[N] Hello, it's me the ukulele [F] teacher here to teach you how to [C#] play the Ingrid Michelson song you and I so grab your uke
[D#] make sure it's in tune [C] and
Sit back [C#] and relax while I teach you how [A#m] to play you and [G] I now this is a super fun
Laid-back kind [C#] of song and the good news is [G] for most of it.
There's just [C#] four easy chords [B] C F G and a minor
I'll take you through those chords now to play the chord of [C#] C
Put your third finger on the third fret of the first string
[C] To play the chord [C#] of F
Put your first finger [D] on the first fret of the second string [B] and your second [A#] finger on the second fret of the fourth string
F should sound like this
[F]
To play the chord of a [C#] minor simply lift up your first finger from the chord of F
And that is the chord of a minor.
It's your second finger on the second fret of the fourth [D#] string a minor [G] should sound like [Am] this
[C#] and to play the chord of G
Put your [B] first finger on the second fret of the third string
Your second finger on the second fret of [C#] the first string and [D#] your third finger [C] on the third fret [E] of the second string
[A] G should sound like [G] this
[C#m] In the chorus, you'll [C#] also need two additional chords the chords of [C#m] E and D
E is a little bit of a squeeze particularly [F] if you've got big [D#] fingers
but to [C#] play it you put your first finger on the second fret [C] of the first string [E] like this [D#m] and then your second third [C#] and
fourth fingers on the fourth fret of [Bm] the fourth third and second [C#] strings
Now as I say, [B] it is a bit of a [C#] squeeze but E should sound [E] like this and
to play the chord of D
Put your first second and [A#] third fingers on the second fret of the fourth third and [C#] second strings and D [A] should sound like this
[D] [C#] Now if you're having problems with [D] E, there's a couple of other ways [B] you can [Gm] play it
You could bar the fourth [G] fret completely [D#] and then put your little [D] finger up on the [C] seventh fret of the first string [E] like this
Or you could [A] bar the fourth fret [C#] completely and just try not to hit this top string here like this
[C#m]
However, you [C#] choose to play it.
[G] Those are the six chords that you will need [C#] for this [G] song
So now I'm going to [D#] teach you the strumming [C#] pattern.
It's a really [D] laid-back [A] strumming pattern
[C#] It's down down up up down [E] up, but it's got a real swing [C#m] to it
So it sounds [C] like this down down up up down up down down up up down up
To play the [D#m] intro just play [C#m] the C four times with that strumming [C] pattern
And then that goes [C#] into the verse the chords for the verse are C F [A] a minor F played through [C#] twice and
You play the strumming pattern twice on each chord.
That [B] should sound like [C] this
Don't you worry there my honey.
[Dm] We might not have any money
But we've got our love to pay the [F] bills
And then you repeat exactly [C] the same chords.
Maybe I think you're cute and funny
[Dm] Maybe I want to do what bunnies do [Am] with you if you know what I [Dm] mean
[F]
And then that goes [C#] in to the chorus now for the chorus
You just play the strumming pattern through once on each [C] chord the first three lines are easy to remember because they're [G] very similar
They all start off the same way it goes [C#m] C E F C
[E] C E [D#] F G
[C#] C E F D
So let me take you through the first three lines of the chorus
[C] Let's get rich and [A] buy our parents [F] homes in south of [C] France
Let's get rich and give [E] everybody nice [Dm] sweaters and teach them how to [G] dance
Let's get [C] rich and build our house [C#m] on the mountain making [Dm] everybody look like [G] ants
And then the [B] final line is [E] one on C
[C#] Half a bar on F [A] and G and then another one [G#] on C from [C#m] way up there
[C] You and [F] I [G] you and [C] I
[C#] So let me take you through the whole of that [C] chorus.
Let's get rich and [E] buy our parents [F] homes in the south of [C] France
Let's get rich and give [C#m] everybody nice sweaters and [F] teach them how to [G] dance
Let's get [C] rich and build our [E] house on the mountain making [F] everybody look like [D] ants from way up [Am] there
You and [C#] I you [C] and I
Then you repeat [C#] the verse as it becomes a duet and then you repeat the chorus
Exactly the same and on the last [A#] time you can just play one F and one C [C] to end
So that's how to play [C#] you and I by [G] Ingrid Michaelson
I've been the [A] ukulele teacher if you [C#] have any requests for future lessons, let me know in the comments below [B] until next time
I love you all and I wish you the
