Hello, it's me the ukulele teacher back to teach you how to play another one of your favorite songs this time Mumford and Sons
I will [E] wait
[B]
[C#m] [B] [C#] [G#]
So first things first grab your uke
Make [E] sure [C] it's in tune and [Am] sit back and relax while I teach [N] you how to play.
I will wait
This is a simple song
There are just three parts to it and they're repeated all the way through the intro the verse and the chorus
There's also only five chords in the song and let's be honest by now
You probably know all of them, but I will go through them quickly.
[C] Firstly.
You've got the chords of [F] C F [G] and G
Now if you don't know those chords and you probably need to start with my other video how to play hundreds of songs with just
Three chords you'll also have two other chords a minor which is a really easy chord
you just put your first finger [Am] on the second fret of the
Bottom string and
The fifth and final chord that you need is the hardest one
It's [N] E minor now to play that you have your first finger on the first string on the second fret
your second finger on the third fret of the second string and
Your third and fourth finger on the fourth fret of the third and fourth string [Em] like this
It is the hardest [B] chord to play
So it [Am] will take a little bit of getting used to if you want to play a slightly easier version of that chord
Which is cheating a little bit you can just play the top three strings [Em] like that and make sure that you don't play this string at all
It doesn't sound quite as good, but it's a lot easier to play
So let's start first with the intro now in the song
They've got all kinds of banjo and fiddly picky bits
What I find is that you can sort of copy that sound on the ukulele in an easy way
By just strumming quite quickly the pattern that I strum this song with is down down down up [C] down up
And if you strum it quickly enough, then it kind of sounds a bit finger pickery like this
[Em] It's a fairly simple strum, but if you can play it fast enough, then it sounds pretty good
Now the chords for the intro are as follows a minor e minor
C F C G
So let's play it really [Am] slowly
[Em]
[C] [F] [C]
[G]
[Am] [Em] [C]
[F] [C] [G] Now let's play it [Am] a little bit faster
Now [Em] [C]
[F] [C] [G]
[Am] [Em]
[C] [F] [C] [G]
[E] the verse is even easier than that you just need the chords C F and G in fact
It's pretty much the end bit of the intro repeated twice [C] C F C G
C F C G
So it goes I came home
[F] Like a stone [C] and I fell heavy
[G] into your arms
[C] these days of [F] dust
Which we've known
[C] will blow away
[G] this new Sun
[F] Then after the verse you have the bridge, but that is actually exactly the same chords as the intro
So it's a minor e minor C F C G.
Let me show you how that works and [Am] [Em] I'll
kneel [C] down
[F]
[C] wait for
[G] now and [F] then repeat that again and [Em] I'll kneel [C] down
[F] [C] No [G] my ground
[Am] Let's play it again a little bit faster and I'll
[Em] kneel
[C]
down [F] [C] wait for [G] now [Am]
and I'll
[Em] kneel
[C] [F] down no [C] [G] I ground and
Then we get to the [C] chorus and that's just three chords C e minor and G the first chorus
They play very slowly.
In fact, they just do one down strum on each chord
They go C e minor G C e minor G.
I
Will wait [Fm] I will [Em] wait for you and [G]
[C] I will wait
I will wait [Em] for you and [G] then they play a couple of bars of [C] just the C chord
Then [E] they repeat the verse chorus verse intro intro and then before the final chorus
There's just one bit at the end that's ever so slightly different the bit that goes [Fm] raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold that's C e minor a minor [C] F C G raise [Em] My [Am] hands
[C] paint my [G] spirit gold and
[N] then repeat the chord C e minor a minor for the line and bow my head and then the line F C G for
Keep my heart slow then repeat the chorus one more time and [C] then end with one big downward stroke on the C
[N] And that's how to play Mumford and Sons I will wait
