Hey everyone, it's John again.
Today we're going to do the song Troubadour by George Strait.
This song is in the key of B, but we play it in a G formation, and it makes it so much easier if we use a fifth before it.
So, we're going to put a capo on the fourth fret, right here, [Ab] and play it in a G formation.
Now the intro to the song is [Db] actually pretty easy.
It sounds like this.
[B]
That's it.
[Eb] What I'm doing is I'm taking my first finger and I'm hammering the second fret of my third string from the top, [Db] which is [B] your D string.
And while [Gb] I'm doing that, I'm also playing my G string, right here, [B] playing them together.
So I go, [Gb] and I play it open.
[Ab] [Gb]
Now I'm going to take my second finger [N] and I'm going to put it on the third fret of my E string, [E]
right there.
And I'm going to play [Db] that note while also playing my D string.
So those two strings.
[Gb] [Gb]
Now I'm going to take my first finger and I'm going to put it on the second fret of my A [Ebm] string, [B] right there.
So we
[Db]
[Gb]
[E] have
[Ebm] Now I'm going to play both strings [B] open, my A [Db] and my D string.
[B] [Db]
[Abm]
[Db] And now I'm going to play G [B] chord.
I'm going to play the [A] intro in the song and give you a comment on how it sounds.
[B]
[Db] [B]
[Abm]
[E]
[B]
[Abm]
[E]
[B]
[Abm]
[E]
[B]
[N] So you get an idea of how it goes into the verse.
Now let's talk about how it's going to go into the chorus.
After we're done with the chorus, you're going to play the intro part actually a little bit.
So I'll just play the chorus and go into the intro and show you how it comes in.
[B]
[Abm]
[E]
[B]
[Abm] When I wrote it in on the song, [E] I'll be an old Jupiter when [B] I'm gone.
Just like that.
[N] And you're going to play that at the end of the chorus and then you go back into the verse like you did before.
One of the things I'm doing as I'm strumming actually, you'll notice [Ab] I'm going off and I'm coming back on.
Going off, coming back on.
I do that a lot.
[B] And I like the way it sounds.
It
[Abm]
[E] [B]
kind of gives it a nice flair to it when you're continually pulling off and hammering back on.
Adds some flavor to it.
Otherwise it's kind of a dull.
[Abm]
[B] The one I do sounds
[Abm]
[E]
[Abm] [B] a whole lot better.
[Eb] So remember that strumming pattern.
Remember the riff, the intro riff.
And this song will sound great on acoustic guitar.
