[Eb] [G] [Eb] Hello and welcome to HD piano.
My name is Dan and in this lesson we'll learn how to play a thousand years by Christina Perry
From the movie Twilight.
We'll play the intro in this one as well as the verse they [Bb] sound like this
[Gm]
[Eb]
[F] [G] [Eb]
[D]
[Gm] [Bb]
Okay, and that verse actually repeats
There is a variation on it and we'll learn that in the next lesson over at HD piano calm
But for now the intro and the first verse let's look at them.
So it's a B flat in the left and F and D in the right
and
We're in six eight time
meaning six beats per measure one two, three, four five six one two, three, four five six and
two beats subdivision two big groups of three one two, three, one two three
Okay, so six eight time we'll feel that so with that being said play this chord twice one two, three
One two, three, one two, three three times rather and the fourth time
[A] We'll go [F] down to an a in the left F and C in the right one two, [G] three
And play this chord three times G in the left F and D in the right one two, three
One two, three, one two, three [F] and then on the second set of that three play F in the left
F and C in the right one [Bb] two, three, so let's recap those quickly
One two, three B flat first one two
Four five six one two transition [G] one two
Down to F
[Eb] And we land on the E flat chord as an E flat in the left E flat G E flat and the right
Play this three times one two, three, one two, three
On beats four five and six will change to just this E flat and B flat [F] four five six one two three
This chord is an F in the left F and D in the right that's kind of a B flat over F chord one two
Three four five six and then we finish on an F open F chord F in the left F and C in the right
one two, three, four five [Eb] six on beats four five and six we play B flat a flat a party [F] B flat a
F all by themselves [Bb] no chords.
Okay back to the beginning
Ready and play
[F] [G] to G minor
[F] to F [Eb] to E flat
[F] Open B flat over F to F.
[Bb] [Eb] Okay, we'll go back and touch on that again
But if you'd like rewind practice it we're moving on to the verse now the first verse
E flat in the left B flat E flat F and the right
Okay, and we hold these for a while this first time through the verse we hold them pretty long
So two full measures, so one two, three, four five six two two
Four five six [Bb] and two measures on this chord D in the left B flat D F and the right
one two, three, four five six two two
[Gm] Next one is G minor seven hold this for six
So one measure one two, two, four five six then [Am] three each on F [Bb] over a and B
Flat so F over [F] is a in the left [Bb] a CF in the right and B flat is B flat B flat D F in the right
Okay, [Eb] let's recap those slowly.
So it starts on this E sus kind of looking chord ready and play one two
Three four five six two two three four [Bb] five six B flat over D
Four five six two two three four [Gm] five G minor seven two two four [F] five F over a [Bb] to B flat
[Eb] [Bb] And then we get into a more involved
Accompaniment which we'll learn in the next video.
Okay, so we've pretty much learned all the intro and the first verse here
Let's recap it first time.
I'll play it slowly
It's already fairly slow, but we'll play it even slower and then we'll play it at recording tempo and move on.
Here we go
One two three beginning ready play
Four but six six [Gm] [Eb]
[F]
[Eb] [Bb] one two three [D] four
All [Gm] right
[Eb] [Bb] good, I know I said I was gonna play it slower
But that felt slow to me even though that was studio tempo.
Let's do it again for good luck, and then we'll move on
One two, two one ready play
[F] [G] [F] [Eb]
[F]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Gm]
[Bb] [Eb] Okay, there it is guys the intro and verse to a thousand years by Christina Perry

And [Eb] the outro and those happen within three videos and then I'll play the whole [Dm] song all the way through which is our fourth
Pardon our fifth and final video
[Eb] I'm doing this song because it was requested and it was requested on Twitter [Dm] by a few guys actually [C] James

With that being said send us [F] your requests on Twitter
And if you are on YouTube sure you can comment and let [Eb] us know what you thought a lesson and maybe you've got requests
But we're gonna focus more [Dm] more on them on Twitter, and then you know other users can see them and [Eb] retweet and favorite and all that
We're starting a discussion over there, so keep that in [F] mind
