[G] Alright guys, this is Rod with Rock Jam Guitar, and today we're gonna be learning a song called
Earth Angel by The Temptations.
Super fun, super easy song to play, and then we're gonna learn an interesting way to play
the same song.
Alright guys, so let's learn this song here.
The first part is the verse.
We're gonna have an [F] F major to a [Dm] D minor [Bb] to a Bb major to a [C] C major, okay?
And you can get [F] the same idea here, right?
[Dm] [Bb]
[C] And you, a little strum pattern if you want.
In this one I'm [F] just playing down, down, up, [Dm] and switching to the next chord.
Down, down, up, [Bb] down, down, [C] up.
Or you can just play straight [F] up, one down, and [Dm] wait for the next chord.
[Eb] That is the verse part of the song.
[G] After the verse, we have a little [Db] pre-chorus, which is [F] nothing more than the same F major
to [Bb] a Bb major, [F] back to the F major, two times.
[G] That is the pre-chorus.
Just remember, if you do not know those shapes, make sure to go to the website, Rock Jam
Guitar, download the free e-book, you can find all of those shapes there.
And the last part of the song is the kind of that chorus there, right?
Which we're gonna have the [Bb] Bb major to an F [F] major.
And you [A] play that three times.
Bb to F, Bb to F, Bb to F.
On this part you can do that play and stop feeling, right?
[D] This is very easy to achieve.
All you have to do is [G] play, and then release your fingers from the frets [Bb] to stop the sound.
Okay?
[Eb] So you do that for three times, then you have a [G] G major, [C] to a C major, and then you go [F] back
to the
[Gbm] [Dm] verses.
[Bb] [C] Remember that after you master these chords here, right?
You can play the same chords in [F] a different way.
For example, this is an F major, to a [Dm] D minor, to a [Bb] Bb major, to [C] a C major.
That's very [Em] helpful for us to explore the same [G] chords that you know already, in different
parts of the fretboard.
Okay?
Another step that I like to do with songs like this, is to get parts of the chords,
and then maybe try to create [Dm] little leads with it.
[Bb]
[Dm] [Bb]
[Am] [B] So on this one [G] I'm just getting the different shapes of the chords here, and playing the
10 of the G, and then on [F] the B, to the 7 of the G, and 6 [Dm] of the B, to the 7 of the
D, and 6 on [Bb] the G, to [C] the 10 of the D, and 9 on the G, and then I'm doing [E] a little passage
before I [F] go back [G] to basically that F there, right?
Which is 10 on the B, 8 on [Em] the B, and then 9 on [C] the G.
