[C] Hey, [B] what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here from GuitarJams [C].com.
A lot of requests for an acoustic blues [Fm] kind of thing.
I haven't done that in a while.
So I'm going to break it down for you.
I hope [N] you get something from it.
[F] Also if you want to get further into playing guitar, my [D] website, GuitarJams.com, I've got
a link for it down there.
And [F] then also I have links for [E] all my social media [D] stuff, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
you know all that stuff.
Keeping track of it all.
Anyway, [N] let's break this one down and we'll zoom right in and do it.
Here we go.
Alright, this progression is the same thing over and over and it's really fun.
I like playing it.
It's got a diminished chord [D] in there which kind of adds a little, you know, a little
sophistication to a [Em] blues.
Anyway, [F#] it's got that old [D] timey kind of chord progression sound to it.
[C] So we start with a C chord and then these two [G] fingers move up a string and that's called [E] E7.
[C] So you got [E]
[C] da [E] da E7 [A] A7.
[Em] And that A7 is twice as long.
Look, [A#] boom, boom.
[B] That G string is [G] open in between.
[A]
And then you can also add your pinky to the third fret of the high E.
[C] [E] C [A] E7 A7.
[C] Okay, one more time.
C [Em] [E]
[A] E7 A7.
You got that pinky.
[D#] Now we're going to do [D] D minor [F] A7 D [Dm] minor back and forth.
[A] [Dm]
I'm playing [N] my pinky there but most people learn it that way.
I'm just used to doing it with my pinky free.
[D] I mean I'm sorry with my ring finger free.
It's just a habit.
You can do it that way.
You [G] can do it that way.
Either way.
It's [C] fine.
So from the top.
[E] C E7 [A] A7 D minor A7 [Dm] D minor.
[A#]
[D] Okay.
Now [B] here's where there's a little walk up and a [E] diminished chord as well.
First I'm just going to show you the [F] chords.
F major and then F [B] sharp diminished.
[Gm] But what we're going to do, it goes by really [F] quick.
[Am]
[Em] We're just adding our pinky [N] to the fourth fret while we're still holding that F chord.
It can [F] be a challenge.
You [D] kind of have to move your elbow in to be able to stretch that.
[Cm] Elbow [F] towards the rib cage.
[F#] [F] [F#]
[F#m] [Am] [F]
[F#] [Am]
Okay.
[Em] Then on [G#] this third fret of the A string we're going to go.
[A] [A] So [B] it's 3 2 [A] 1 A7.
So [F] F.
[F#]
F sharp diminished.
[G] And then [A] A7.
[Bm] Now instead of D minor we're going to play a [D] D7 which is like an upside down D chord.
2 3 [Bm] 4 and then [G] a G.
And I [Em] like to change it to G7 so I'm going to [F] play it with ring finger, middle [G] finger,
pinky and [Em] then I'm adding that first [F#] fret on the high [D] E there.
So here it is [C] from the top.
C. [E] D7.
[A] A7.
[Dm] D minor.
[A] A7.
[Dm] D minor.
Now we go to F major.
[F] F.
[F#] F sharp diminished.
Walk [A] it on down.
[D] D7.
[G]
G to G7.
[C] [G#]
[A] [Dm] [A]
[Dm] [F] [E]
[A] [D]
[G] [C] [B] [D] Alright, I hope you got something from that.
Remember [D#] I got my website that I'd love for you to visit down there [N] as well as liking
Guitar Jams on [Em] Facebook and Twitter and all that stuff.
[G#] Thanks for hanging out and I hope to see you in another lesson real soon.
Take care.
