In December 1967, we were at Olympic Studios in London.
It was Chas and Jimmy, Mitch, Noel, myself,
and we're cutting a track which will eventually end up on Electric Ladyland.
We didn't actually start out to do a album at any time.
We just kept rolling, and [Bb] as soon as we had enough songs for an album,
we'd put that one [C] out and then [G] just get on with the rest of the stuff,
and that's how [Cm] it was going by the time we got to Electric Ladyland.
This [F] is probably one of the last tracks that Chas really had a tight hand on,
and it's Crosstown Traffic, and it's a fantastic [G] song.
You jump in front of my car [F] when you're, you know all the time
That a 90 miles an hour [D] girl is [Db] a
An extremely [C] powerful,
[F] right-in-your-face vocal from Jimmy.
You say you just want me to take you for a drive
[Eb] Crosstown [G] Traffic
We have a guest helping out with the background vocals, it's Dave Mason,
who's a friend [F] of Jimmy's, used to play with Traffic,
who's a rhythm guitar player, very good musician,
[N] became quite tight with Jimmy, and just hanging around the studio one day,
and Jimmy said, hey, do you want to help us with some background vocals?
Diaprax all across your back, [F] I can [G] feel you have [Bb] your fun
Darling, can't you see my [Eb] signals turn from green to [Ab] red
It was you I could see at Traffic [G] Jam, straight up ahead
[Eb] You're just [Cm] like, so [Fm] hard to get through to you
[C] [Gm] My [F] legs run over [Cm] you
What do we do [Fm] when slow it down?
[Gm] I've got metal fingers [Bb] on the other side of the tub
Late [G] 67, we'd done Access Boulder's Love, and we were still touring and all that sort of stuff,
and then we [Db] started [Gm] on new material in Olympic,
which then [Gm] we took to the record plant in New York.
[Bb] [C]
