Hey, [Db] what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here from GuitarJams.com.
I've done a lot of acoustic lessons the last few weeks so I thought I'd give you a nice
rocker electric guitar distortion, the whole bit.
You know, classic rock riff.
Alright, so that's what we're going [Em] to do and actually there's this cool little like
soloing technique that I was doing.
[Am] [G] [B]
[Am]
[G] What I'm going to do is I'm going to leave that on my technique channel, just the [D] Guitar
Jams channel here on YouTube.
So I'm just going to leave a link below and you can just go over to my other YouTube channel
and check out solo technique for this.
Alright, that's it.
Here's the lesson.
Alright, let's do this lesson.
We're working in the box that's the roots on the fifth fret of the low E.
We're in the
key of A or A rock.
It's almost like an A minor kind of vibe.
But it's really like the pentatonic scale mostly.
And it starts like this.
It kind of starts like that song Sabotage by Beastie Boys.
I mean this song came [A] first.
And it's an open A like that but you're taking your index finger and you're going to the
fifth fret on the D string and on that first pick we're picking the D with the open A like a chord.
And then I'm hammering my ring finger up to the seventh fret of the D right there.
See that?
And we have [B] distortion that [A] sounds pretty cool.
And I'm using a Fender DeVille amp.
You know all the EQs are pretty much just straight up in the middle.
What I was using there was a Full Tone Plymsul pedal with the drives about halfway up.
That's it.
Heritage guitar.
Okay.
And so then you've got.
And I'm plucking both of these strings.
And there's definitely some palm muting going on.
[Bb] You know I've got my [A] palm kind of bouncing off and on.
[Am]
[D] [Am]
[D] [Am]
[D] [Am]
[D] [Am] So we've got to work that out a little bit.
It's a double stop.
It's the fifth fret of the G and the B.
To that root.
Then back.
Then ring finger up to the seventh fret of the G and the B.
So [D] it's [Am]
[D] [A]
from the top.
[Am] [D] [E]
[A] [Am]
[D] [Am] [D] [Am]
[D] [Am]
So we got.
[D] We're going to hit that again.
[C] Pull off [A] back to that home [Dm] base root right there.
The seventh [Am] fret of the D.
[D] [A]
And you kind of want that open A ringing out with it as you do it.
[Am] [D] [A]
[Am] [D] [Am] [A]
[G]
[A] So then we have to do a power chord which is just the third fret [Gm]
and the fifth fret
the E and the A.
[A] And just up a whole step.
[Am] [D]
[A] [G] [A]
[Am] [D]
[A] [G] [A]
[Am]
[D] [A]
[G] [A]
[Am]
[D] [A]
[G] [A]
All right.
That's the main riff.
And then the meat and the potatoes when the singing's going on.
And kind of like the rest of the jams it's the A power chord if you want.
[C] [D] [A]
[C]
[D] [Am] [G] [A]
[C] [A]
[G] [A]
[C] [A]
[G] [A]
[E] [C] [A]
[Em] [A]
[C] [D] [A]
[G]
So I think that is a cool way to play that part as well is doing that open A [A] pedal.
And
[C] then just going three five on the A string power chord.
[Dm] [A] Back to the pedal.
[G] And then [A] three five on that.
With a little full tone plimsoll on there.
The bridge pickup.
[Am]
[A] [G] [A]
[C] [A]
[G] [A]

[G] [A]
[Am] [D] [A]
[G] [A]
[Am] [A]
[G] [Am]
[D] [A] [Gm] [A]
All [Gm] right.
Hope you enjoyed that.
Hope that was helpful.
