[N] Hey, how's it going out there?
Marty Schwartz here with GuitarJams.com.
Got a cool bluesy classic rock lesson for you.
And real quick, you can click down there for an e-book and I also sent a bunch of cool
blues lessons that are not on YouTube.
So you can check that out.
Here we go.
I'm going to teach you that awesome lick to start with.
I think will be a good idea.
Now it uses the open E minor pentatonic scale, also known as, you can also play, you know,
think of it as the blues [Em] scale.
The blues scale is just an added note.
[Ab] But you know, a lot of lessons on both of those scales on Guitar Jams.
So here we go.
We're going to do, you can do your ring finger or your middle finger.
If you're going to do your ring finger on the third fret of the B, then use your middle
finger on the second fret.
And if you're using your middle finger here, use your index finger here for efficiency.
So we're going to [D] go, I use my ring finger on the third fret of the B.
Then middle finger
is already down on the second fret.
We go, [A]
then [G] open.
[D] [G] [Em] And you're going to be able to cut the notes off with your [D] right hand.
Then [Gm] [D] [E] [D]
[Gm] [D] [Em]
we're going to hammer on the second fret of the D string with our middle finger.
So we got, [A] [Em]
[D] [A] [Em]
we're going to hit that a second time.
Did you see that?
[A] [Em]
[A] [B] [Bbm] So immediately after that second hit there, we're going to hammer second fret of the [A] A string.
[B] [D] So [A]
[G] [D] followed [Em] [A] [B]
[D] by an open D string right here.
[E] So check it out.
[D] [G] [D]
[Em] [A] [D]
Right from that [G] open D, we're going to go to the third fret of the low E string.
[Em]
[D] [Gm] [Dm] [E] [G]
[Em] And most, I think all those notes are pretty much, you know, you got to cut them off.
[D] [Em]
[D] One more time, super slow, the whole thing.
[Em] [A] [Gm] [Em]
[D] [E] [A] [B] [D]
[G] [Em]
All right, now the chords, [E] you can play an E7 chord.
It's like taking a regular E major chord and taking your ring finger off or adding your
pinky to the third fret of the B string here or some kind of combination of both [Bm] or just
the [E] ring finger off.
Any of those are going to work.
The one I like though is taking [G] a C7 chord.
So if you take a [C] C major, you add your pinky to the G string on the third fret right there.
If you move that up a whole step, you have a D7.
[D] [E] Move it up another whole step, you have an E7.
So that's a really good one because you can also get the open E in there and you can get
the open high E in there and then it goes, oh, [A] Suzy Q.
And we're going to do an A chord.
Now if you're more comfortable with the open chords, you can play A.
[C] And on U, it's B, a C chord followed immediately by a [Bm] B7 back to the E.
If you [A] do it with bar chords, it's an A bar chord here.
You can take your pinky off to [A] make it A7 and then up to the eighth fret [C]
followed by
[B] the seventh fret followed [C] by that [E] C7 shape with the E root as the E7 chord.
So check it out.
I'll play both spots.
Start with the open.
[A] [C] [B] [E]
[Bm]
[A] A, [C] [B] C, [D] E.
[Em] [A] [G] [E]
[A] [Em] [C] [B] [E] Cool, [Em] [E]
[A] [E] [A]
[D] [C] [B] [A] [E]
[Gm] [A] [Em]
[Am] [G] [E]
[Gb] [E] [F]
[Bb] [G] that's it.
Thanks for hanging out with me.
