One Call Away - Charlie Puth // Guitar Tutorial chords
Start Jamming...
What is up people of the internet?
It is Guitar Goddess and we are back with a new
lesson.
I'm going to be teaching you guys how to play One Call Away by Charlie Puth.
You [Db] guys have been spamming the comments lately with this one so I was like I
have to do it.
So starting off here I [D] have a capo on the first fret and I am
in standard tuning so as far as chords go here most [N] of them are open and easy
but I will let you know that there is one bar chord in the song and then
there's one chord that you may have not really used too much.
It's a little bit
of a stretch.
Don't let that intimidate you from trying the song because you're
only going to get better if you challenge yourself.
Challenge yourself,
challenging yourself is a [C] good thing.
So if you are beginner don't fret, everything
is gonna be okay.
[Eb] Alright starting off with the chords here we have [Db] a C
major, then we [Ab] have a G major, an A minor, [Bbm] our [B] bar chord here is an [Gb] F major, and [Ab] our
last chord here is one you may not know yet so I might be introducing it to you
for the first time.
[N] So say hey and hello to the G7.
It's kind of close to a C but
it's not a C so it's gonna look like this and it's gonna sound like [Ab] this.
Alright so [Bbm] those are all the chords you are going to need to know for this song.
Now we're gonna go [Gb] ahead and get into strumming.
So first off in certain
sections of the [C] song you're going to be seeing some very simple single down
strums and that is because the intro starts off very soft and then the bridge
also gets soft so you're gonna see [G] down strums just like this [Db] which make it
perfect for beginners like you out there.
[E] Then we're gonna go ahead and move on to
one of my favorite patterns which is four down strums and one [Fm] up strum and it
sounds just like [Eb] this.
So it's down down down down up down down down up.
[E] So that's really all I'm using in this song.
I really don't feel the need [N] to do
anything crazy or complex because it kind of is a soft song.
Alright so let's
go ahead and jump right in.
Alright starting off the intro it comes in very
soft so we're going to be using single down strums nice and easy [F] just like this.
[Db] I'm only [Ab] one call [Bbm] away.
I'll [Ebm] be there to [Db] save [Ab] the day.
[Db] Superman got [Ab] nothing [Bbm] on me.
[Gb] I'm only [Ab] one call [Db] away.
Then we're gonna go ahead into the first verse where we amp up our strumming just a
little bit [E] and I'm gonna be using the pattern four downs one up for each chord
so it'll sound like [Bbm] this.
[Ab]
[Db] [Gb] [Bbm]
[Ab] [Bbm]
[Ab] [Db] [Gb]
Then we're gonna go into the pre-chorus which is [C] just two chords F and G [D] but
there'll be a slight change in the strumming.
The F you will continue on
just what we're doing with the first pattern but then the G I actually just
[Gb] strum down once and hold it out.
[Ab]
[Db] [Bbm]
[Ebm] [Db] [Ab]
[Ab] [Bbm]
[Gb] [Ab]
[Db] Moving along to [N] the second verse here same concept except there is a slight
change because the verse is actually a little bit longer so we're gonna add on
to it a [Bbm] little bit.
So starting off with what we already know.
[Ab]
[Db] [Bbm] [Ab]
[Db] [Bbm]
[Db] [Gb] [Bbm] [Ab]
[Db] You can [Gb] see the extension here.
[Bbm] [Ab]
[Gb] Pre-chorus.
[Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Bbm] [Ebm] [Db]
[Ab] [Db] Superman got [Ab]
nothing on me.
[Gb] I'm only [Eb] one [Db] call away.
[N]
Hello!
You may be wondering why am I in a completely different outfit on a
completely different day?
Well the answer to that question is that I am a silly
fool who forgot to film the bridge of the song and so I'm [F] here on a completely
different day in a completely different week [D] filming this tutorial.
So I'm gonna
go ahead and start at the bottom of the chorus and then just go ahead and lead
into the bridge.
So here [Bb] we go.
I'm [Gb] only one [Ab] call [Db] away.
And [Gb] when you wake, [Bbm] I'll be [Ab] strong.
I'm gonna [Gb] keep [Bbm] holding [Ab] on.
Now [Gb] don't you worry, [Bbm] it won't [Ab] be long.
Darling, when you feel like hope is gone, just run into my arms.
I'm only
And then you go into the chorus which [Bb] [G] the sweater wearing me is gonna teach you.
Starting at the top of the chorus with that C major [Eb] simple downstrums we have
[Db] I'm only [Ab] one call [Bbm] away.
[Ebm] And I'll be there to save [Ab] the day.
Here we go with the change.
Got [Db] [Ab] nothing [Bbm] on me.
Another change.
[Gb] I'm only one.
[Ab] I'm only one [Db] [Ab] call [Bbm]
away.
I'll be [Ebm] there to save [Db] the [Ab]
day.
[Db] Superman got [Ab] nothing [Bbm] on me.
[Gb] I'm only [Ab] one call [Db]
away.
[Gb] I'm only [Ab] one call
[Db] away.
[Gm] Alright guys so that is how you play One Call Away.
