What's up guys?
Today's lesson is [Bbm] going to be Faded by Alan Walker.
Perfect for you beginners [Gb] out there.
[Ab]
[Bbm]
[Gb] [Ab]
[Bb]
[Gb] [Ab] Alright, so starting off with the basics here, we are in [Eb] standard tuning and we have a [D] capo here on the [Gb] 6th fret.
For chords, we're going to have [Ebm] an A minor, a C major, [Gb]
[E] a G [Db] major, and then [B] we're going to have an F major, but don't freak out.
I'm going to give you guys two options here and I'm [Eb] going to show you how I incorporate these two different F's in the song.
Alright, so the first one, F major bar [B] chord, just like this.
[Eb] Now the F major 7th is of course open, which makes it a lot easier to play.
It's kind of like making a C major.
So just make a regular C major and then just drop these two fingers [C] down each one string and boom.
[B] F major 7.
[N] So real quick, I just want to explain to you guys why I have both an F major and an F major 7.
So in the verse where I'm going to be showing you guys fingerpicking here really shortly, I like to use the F major 7.
But when I go ahead and play the F [Eb] in the rest of the song, I just want to use a regular F major.
Alright, so [Dbm] before we get into picking here, we're going to go over strumming really quickly.
I have a few quick little patterns to show you.
So the first one, we're just going to start off easy.
[Ebm]
It's down, down, down, down, up.
And for the chorus, I really like this.
So that's down, down, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, down, up.
[D]
[A] [N] That's my dad.
Hello?
No, we are completely out of peanut butter.
I swear on my life, we are out of peanut butter.
I used the last bit this morning.
Now in the pre-chorus, this is where the song starts building up.
So what I [B] like to do is I like to use really easy [N] down-strums, but I like to do this sort of like palm-muting thing.
So you're still letting the strings vibrate, but you're [Ebm] choking them a little bit.
Just bouncing off the strings.
Letting a little bit of vibration out, but choking it.
[F] And then of course in some areas, we're just going to have simple single down [Ebm]-strums.
Alright, so getting [Gm] into the finger-picking here is [F] actually quite simple.
So we're going to start off on the A minor and C major chords, because they are actually picked the same way.
[Gb]
So the [B] strings that we are plucking in this [Eb] order are A, high E, G, [Ebm] B.
A, E, G, B.
And just [Gb] make the C major.
[Bb] So you're putting your thumb on the A string, [Eb] pinky [Ebm] on the high E string, index on the G string, and then your middle on the B string.
[Gb] Alright, so onto the G [E] major here.
It's almost exactly the [Ebm] same, except we're going to start off on the low E instead of [Db] the A string.
Because when you strum a G, you strum all of the strings.
And with [G] the A minor and the C major, [Gb] you always strum from here on down, if that makes sense.
So G major, just put your thumb here and pick everything else [Db] the same.
So it's E, E, G, B.
[Eb] And the last chord that we're going to pick here is the F [N] major 7th.
I like using this instead of the F major.
So remember it's just like a C chord, except these two fingers are just going to be down a string.
And we're going to go ahead and start from the D string [B] here.
So we're going to pick everything else [G] the same, but we're starting from the D [B] string.
Now [Ab] when we put the entire progression together, it'll sound like this.
[Ebm] [B]
[Gb] [Db]
[Ebm]
[B] [Gb]
[Db] [Ebm]
[B] [Gb]
[Db] Where [Eb] are you?
[B] [Ebm] Where are
[Db] you?
Where [Eb] are you?
Was it [B] all in my fantasy?
Where [Ebm] are you?
Were you [Db] only an ordinary?
Where [Ebm] are you now?
[B] Atlantis, under [Gb] the, under [Db] the tree.
Where [Ebm] are you?
[B] Under the tree.
[Gb]
[Db] I'm fading, [Ebm]
[B] [Cm] I'm fading.
