Okay, so about a year and a half ago, I think, I think it might, something like that, I recorded
a video and uploaded it called the To Hear No Zou En Sound [C#] and I must have found a gap
in the market or something because comparatively, compared to the rest of my videos, it's got
a lot of views, like, over 10,000, something like that, which for me is ridiculous.
[C#] And,
you know, [F#] since days after recording that video, I've been sort of [G#] embarrassed about,
you know, the sound isn't very close, the equipment isn't very easy to get that I [B] use
in it, it's sort of haphazard, the intro is bad and I've been meaning to re-record it
for a long time, so here it is.
And a little disclaimer, which I didn't really mention
last time, which is that this sound is based on the Fuji Rock version of To Hear No Zou
En, which if you haven't seen it, just type in To Hear No Zou En in that bar up there
and you'll find it, it's the recent video.
So I think that's the easiest, probably the
most reproducible sound is the one that he gets live, because you don't know what he's
using in the studio.
Anyway, I've been talking for two minutes, upcoming is the sound, and
then if you stick around, there's a little bit of guitar lesson.
I'm not good at guitar,
so there's not going to be any secrets or anything awesome, it's just going to be me
showing you the chords and a little bit of the structure of the song.
So, let's go.
Okay, so what you're seeing here, apart from my guitar headstock waving in and out of shot,
is my pedalboard.
The two pedals that we're going to be focusing on are this one, All
Set Up, which is an Electro-Harmonix stereo memory man with Hasurai, and this one, which
is a, that one, which is a Dan Electro transparent overdrive, the version 1, not the new version
2.
And this, this cable actually, is running into my computer, which is running into Adobe
Audition, which is running into [E] Guitar Rig Amplifier Modeling.
So, here's my clean.
[A]
[E] [G]
[A] [G] [C]
[G]
Okay, so first of all, this is the overdrive.
You'll notice that I tried to keep it quite
bright and [A] I wanted a, a kind of, a transparent overdrive if you like, because if you listen
to the Fuji Rock version, it's actually, you [G] can hear some of that single coil twanginess
coming through.
So, this is what the overdrive is like on the neck pickup.
[C]
[G]
[D] [G] So, it's quite
bright as you can hear, and nice and crunchy.
Now, the stereo memory man with Hasurai.
So,
it's a reverse reverb kind [C#] of thing.
You can hear it there.
[A]
[F] [E] And the thing that you're really
looking [G] for is the, it's an effect that can sort of obscure the sound, sort of like, [A] [G]
but
it doesn't linger.
So, if I change to reverse, you can hear, [A]
[G] you [G#] can hear those long trails
off.
That's not what you want.
You want the quick [G] sort of.
[A]
[G] [E] So, now, let's hear what they
sound like together.
[D]
[G]
[C]
[E]
[G]
[E]
[C]
[Em]
[G]
Make of that what you will.
I, I think it sounds quite close when
I listen to that, and then I listen [G#] to the video.
You know, it's as close as I can get.
Coming up next is the guitar lesson part.
If you don't care about that, then you're
done, and I will see you later.
