Hi, welcome to another video.
I had a request for this song.
It's another song by [N] JJ Cale.
I've already done a three part tutorial of JJ Cale.
If you're interested in any of his
stuff and you fancy having a go, I'll put a link on screen to those tutorials.
Now this
one is called After Midnight.
[Ab] It's going to be a quick one.
There's not many chords in
this song at all.
[D] You've got a D major, which is that.
Okay, so that's [F] first and third on
the second [G] fret and [D] second string on the third fret.
Then you have [F] an F and [G] a G [B] and an [A] A
chord.
[N] Okay, and again, if you're not familiar with any of these chords, I've done some tutorials
on basic chords, barre chords and open chords, so I'll put a link to those up as well on
the screen.
So if you're struggling with any of the chords and you're not too sure
what they are, you'll be able to check that out.
Okay, so the tune [D] starts in D.
Now as
[Dbm] ever, I always urge you to try and make it [Ab] your own.
This isn't note for note or anything
like that.
It's just my way of playing it really and [F] hopefully once you know the chords.
Okay, so it starts [D] in D major, which you can just play a straight D like that and find
what works for you with the right hand.
And there's kind of a rhythm going through, but
as I say, you can just play the D or if you want to be a little bit more elaborate, you
can add this little finger onto the [Ab] first string of the third fret so you [D] have more
of a
and just alternate perhaps or something like that.
Okay, so the verses are [F] F, [G]
[D] G, A.
Same [F] again.
[G] It's gonna be peaches [D] and cream.
We're gonna cause a talking suspicion.
[F] Give an exhibition.
F.
[G] Find out, Jake, what it is [A] all about.
A.
[D] After midnight, [F] [G] we're gonna let it [D] all hang out.
[N] Okay, so I'm playing a little bit slower than what it is on the record as well.
As I often
say, put the record on, have a play along with it and that'll help you with the arrangement.
But the [G] bulk of the verses is just D, F and G.
[N] And then the only exception is where it
goes on up to the A.
Now, you want to try and hear these things for yourself, yeah,
because if you're just copying everything all the time, you know, it's great for getting
there, but you want to also try and train your ears to hear some of these things, okay?
So [Ab] once more, quickly through, I'll play it a little bit quicker this [D] time.
So starting
with the verse in D.
After midnight, [F]
[G] we're gonna let [D] it all hang out.
Yeah, that kind of thing.
[F] F, [G] G.
[D] F,
[F]
[G] G, [A] A.
And [D] [F] [G]
[D] that's [G] basically all there [E] is to the tune, so I hope it helps in some small way.
And
if you have any questions, it's always good to hear any questions that you might have
or [Fm] anything like that.
So as I say, I hope it's helped.
If it's been useful in any way,
perhaps you could [C] click on the like or the subscribe.
I look forward to seeing you next
time.
Thanks for watching.
