[F] [Eb] Hey [Cm] everybody, welcome back to [F] HD [Eb] Piano.
This is Jeff.
Today, [Cm] we are going [F] to be learning [Eb] Apologize by OneRepublic and we'll [Cm] start off by checking
out the verse.
It's going to sound like this.
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gm] [Cm]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gm]
Alright, pretty cool piano part, so let's get started.
[Cm] We'll do the right hand first.
We start on a C minor chord, which we play with a G, a C, and an E flat.
And what we're going to do is we're going to do a little toggle move, so we're going
to play the top two notes first, and then the bottom note second.
And that's going to sound like this.
One and two and three and four [G] and.
So that's for our first [C] chord.
We have four chords total.
The second chord looks like this.
We have a G, a C, and an F.
So [Cm] notice, moving from the C minor, our first chord, to the second chord, we just move this
[F] note up to F.
[Eb] E flat [F] to F.
And for our second chord, we're going to do that same toggle thing.
[C] One and two and three and [G] four and.
Third chord, [Eb] E flat in first inversion.
G, B flat, and E flat.
Same thing.
Toggle the top two notes with the bottom note.
One and two and three and four and.
And finally, our last chord, we're going to play like [Gm] this.
G, B flat, and [Bb] F.
And same rhythm.
Toggle the top two notes, B flat and F, with the bottom note, G.
[G]
[Gm] One and two and three and four [G] and.
Alright, so let's [N] go over the four chords first, and then we'll do [Cm] the rhythm after that.
So here's the first chord.
C minor, second inversion.
Then we move up to our second chord by just moving [F] the top note up to [C] F.
Our third chord [Eb] is that, E flat in first inversion.
[Gm] And our fourth chord is this.
Okay, so now that you know the four chords, let's do that toggle rhythm, all four chords [Cm] together.
One and two and three and four and.
One and two and three and [Eb] four.
One and two and three and [Gm] four and.
One and two and three and four and.
[C] Alright, nice job.
Let's add the left hand now.
We start octave Cs.
This left hand is going to get pretty low.
[Ab]
Then we move to octave As.
Excuse me, octave Abs.
[Eb] Then all the way down, octave Ebs.
Getting real low on the piano here.
And finally, [D] octave Ds.
[C] We're going to hold each of those for four counts.
One, two, three, [Ab] four.
One, two, three, [Eb] four.
One, two, three, [D] four.
One, two, three, four.
Alright, let's put both hands together now, nice and slow.
[Cm] One and two and three and four.
[Ab]
One and two and three and [Eb] four.
One and two and three and [Gm] four.
One and two and three and.
Let's do it [Cm] one more time.
C minor, [Ab] Ab in the bass.
Down to our [Eb] Eb chord and our [Gm] D in the bass.
[G] Alright, pretty cool sounding chords.
Let's try it [Cm] full speed.
One, two, three, four.
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gm] [Cm]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gm]
Alright, that's it for the verse.
And guess what, verse two, [Eb] same thing as verse one.
So nice job, you have the first and second verse of Apologize all set.
Coming up, we got the chorus, we have the interlude,
and we're going to have a full song run through.
