[E] [C#m] Hey, what's up everybody welcome [C] back to another 10 songs all right today.
We're learning a [Cm] classic Ray Charles song hit the road Jack Okay
Now this is an easy beginner song and I'm gonna be teaching it the easiest most beginner way possible
And then a little more [B] complicated and [N] then a little more complicated version all right because we're trying to sound like the piano and the ukulele
Is sometimes kind of difficult to create the same kind of piano vibe [C] okay?
Also, too if you haven't subscribed check out the channel
We have a ton of [G#] other songs a ton of other techniques and a ton of other stuff
But if you only came for this song that's fine, too, okay?
What I want you to do is I want you to grab a ukulele grab your brain grab your attention span [Dm] and follow me
on into this [Am] lesson
[G] [Am] Okay, [E] [Am] [G] [Am] [E] [Am]
[G] [C] [E] [Am] [G] [Am]
[C#m] [N] welcome to the song the very first thing you need to do is grab your chords.
We're going to need an [Am] a minor for this one a
[C#m] G [G] major F [C] [F] major
[E] E dominant 7 or E7
Okay, [N] now for each chord.
You're going to have two down strokes.
Okay.
There's no up strokes on this song
So the rhythm for example on a [Am] minor goes down down
G [G] down down
[D] [F] F down down
[C#m] E7 down down
[C] So you [C#] really just need to know?
How to change from those chords fluently and you should be [N] able to get this song pretty easy, okay?
So let's go ahead and play it really nice and easy and nice and slow together [Am] down [G] down
[F] down down down
[G#] Brown
[E] [Am]
[G] [F] [Em]
[Am] [G]
[F] [E] Okay,
[C] now we speed that up just [C#] a little bit okay now.
We speed it up.
Just a little bit and check [Am] it out
[G] Believe [F] [C#m] [Am]
[G] [F] [Em] [Am] [G] [F]
[E] [Am] [G] [F] [E] [Am]
[C#] it or not.
That's the whole song all right I
Know it only [N] took a couple seconds to teach you guys that so we're going to make it a little more spicy because we're trying
To sound like the piano okay one thing you can do to do that [Am] is thumb pluck with your thumb and then go down
Okay, so on the a minor look
[G] G pluck down [F] F pluck down [Am] [G#] E7 [C#m] look
All [Am] [G] [F] [E] [Am]
[G] [F] [D] [Am] [G]
[F] [D] [Am] [G] [F]
[E] right, that's pretty [Cm] cool.
All right, so we're [C#] already making it sound even cooler
[Cm] What I want you to do if I'm moving too [C#] fast if you're a beginner go ahead and learn just the downs first and then build
Up and then come back to the plucks all right do it piece by piece take it step by step
You know you really [N] don't want to rush in anything too fast and get frustrated
That's the cool thing about these things on YouTube is you can pause take a second figure it out
And [A#] come back all right [C#] now the third and final way to play
This is going to be [Cm] even a little more complicated because [Dm] I'm not plucking
[C] With my thumb.
[G#] I'm going to be plucking with my [F#] finger right so I'm going to go ahead and put some tabs on [C#] here for
This one [Cm] because we're going to try to [F#m] get the root note of each chord [Fm] in the bass so in [Am] the a minor chord
[C#] That bottom string near [A] your a string is
The root [Gm] or the principal note of the a minor [G#] so [A] we're gonna pluck up with our [G] index [D#m] finger [Am] on the a and then go down
Okay, [C#] let's make a G chord [Cm] the third fret of the E string is a [G] G note
So [C] we're gonna pluck with the index [G] finger there
and go down
[Em] F [C] chord we stay [A#m] on the E string and that note [C#] right there the first fret is an F pluck [C] down
And E7 [Em] open obviously E note plucking down
[C#m] What that's doing is it's giving you the illusion [C#] of the walking bass [A] walking down
[C#] Now [F] [A]
[C] [Fm] [E]
[C#] [G#] it would sound [C] really really really over the top if you were playing the [G#] ukulele with someone else that played bass
They could take care of that responsibility [N] for you, and you can just go down down down down
But if you're playing by yourself
You want to try to make it sound as close to the record as you can this is how we're gonna have to do it
Okay, so let's walk through it [A] slow
[Am] [G]
[F] [E] [Am] [G]
[F] [Am] [G]
[F] [E]
[G#] All right now take that nice and easy and try to build up your speed all right
You get it [N] a little quicker.
It's gonna sound something like [Am] this
[G] [F]
[E] [Am] [G] [F] [G] [Am]
[G] [F] [E] Yeah, so there you have it three [Fm] ways to play the classic hit the road Jack depending on your [N] skill level start from the very first
One build yourself up to the second one and finally the third one hit the road Jack Ray [G] Charles
[Am] Hope you enjoyed it
All [Cm]
