Hi, this is Gaylord again, and this time I thought I'd show you how to do Danny O'Keefe [N] song back from
1972 good time Charlie's got the blues great song had a request to do this song
I don't normally do
Requests because I've got so many of the songs that I'm playing in my band that I'm trying to get out here for you
guys, it's hard to
Do other ones, but and I may do this one in the band.
This is great
This [G] is a good song listen instead of playing the chords on [F] this what you want to do is hit [E] the notes
So that you're doing
Just picking picking notes on there and filling it in so here's the notes that you're [G] trying to hit
[E] Or [D] [G] [D] at least that's what I'm hearing okay
[G] So what you're doing is you're on the sixth [C] string third [F#] fret and use your ring finger to come up to the fourth string fourth fret
[E]
second on [D] four
Open four [G] hammer on five [B] open two [D] and then hit your fourth string
And
[G] you start that riff again
[Em] [D]
[G] [Em] The only fingers I'm using I'm using [G] my my middle finger to hit that bass note, [F#] and I'm using my
Pinky [B] to hit that fourth fret
[Em] And then I come down with my index on the second fret on four [D] and I use it on the hammer two when I go
[B] five two on the fifth string open [D] two and
Then four [G] [G]
[Em] and [G] what I'm doing to give us some [Em] cool sound [G] in there is I'm playing the second and third strings, okay?
[Em] [G] [Em] [G]
[Em] [G]
[C] Now [Em] what that is I'm not sure what the name is I think it's a C
Major or something I'm not sure but [C] anyway.
I'm not a chord guy.
It's a C [Em] chord without the index finger
Okay, so maybe a C major seventh probably
But a C chord without the index finger [G] and your notes there you're doing the same kind of riff, but [B] it's on a
open [A] two
two on three
[G] Open three and then that little run or the
[E] hammer on four [D] oh two and
[G]
Open three [C] you [G] [C]
[D] kind of get up to a d7 there, [Am] okay?
And it's going to be important to [D] d7 not a D because you're put you want to [E] position those fingers
On your index finger one [A] on two and [C] your middle finger [Am] two on three because you're going to do a little slide
And
[G] all I'm doing there
[Bm] Going up two frets [C] sliding back down and taking my middle [D] finger off
[G] [G] and that little hammer on four
to an open three and then start that riff again and
[Em] [Em]
[C] [E]
[A] I miss that I [G]
[D] [G]
hope that helps you.
I'm trying to think ahead, and I hit miss my notes for [Bm] you
Hey, also.
There's a look [D] that little little break in there
The little break riff
[G] [Em]
[D] [G] all I'm doing there
[Em]
open first
[A] [D]
That's a second string third fret
[Bm]
open second
[A] [Am] second on third
[G]
[D] That's a little hammer, and then [A] he goes
[Bm]
[D] [E] I'm on the second string fifth fret and thirds third [A] fret and [G]
[F#] then you go back into that [E] riff
But you're going to start on the second note of [F#] that and that so you're actually starting fourth fret [E] on the fourth string
Didn't explain that well
[A]
[G]
[Em] [D]
[A] [D]
[G] [Em] [G] [G]
[D] [G] I
Hope you like that.
That's a great tune [D] may the Lord bless you and stay close to Jesus man.
[N] See you bye
