Hi and welcome to a quick tour around the [B] Duesenberg Pomona 6.
As you can see it's based on a lap steel guitar with a square neck, designed to be played Hawaiian style like this across your lap.
Many lap steel guitars have a shorter scale length, but the Pomona's is a full 650mm,
pretty much the same as Fender's 25.5 inches to enable the strings to sing out loud and clear.
So we have two pickups arranged as they'd be on a regular electric guitar, bridge and neck.
Here they are played with a clean sound with the guitar tuned to open D.
Here's the bridge [D] pickup.
[F]
[G]
[D] [E] And now the middle selection.
[D]
[F] [G]
[A] Here's the neck pickup.
[D] [F]

Now if you add some overdrive to the mix we're into bluesy Ben Harper style territory.
So let's hear the bridge and neck positions with some drive.
I'm using a Crowther Audio hotcake to dirty things up.

So far so good then, but there's more.
The next cool [D] feature on the Pomona 6 is the easy shift capo.
If you want to raise the pitch of the strings, [G] simply slide the capo up the neck and tighten the thumbscrew gently like this.
[C]
[G]
[Gb] [D]
[Bb] That's a really handy feature if you need to play in different keys, but where it all starts to get really interesting is here at the bridge.
The Pomona 6 uses Duesenberg's multi-bender bridge.
It comes as standard with two benders, but you can also use a single bender to get a more natural sound.
There are two bending [C] levers, in this case fitted to the B and G strings.
You can adjust the amount of bend and add additional levers if you want.
Here [Ab] though we have the B string set to bend up a tone and the G string set to bend up a semitone.
Here's how that [A] sounds.

[Eb] Used together, here's how the bending levers affect an open D tuning.

[D] [A]
[G] [D]

With all these bending options you can get into all kinds of Hawaiian and country styles of playing.
It's somewhat easier to play than a pedal steel, but it's still quite tricky.
Stick with it and you'll be sounding ok on a few licks in no time at all.
Here's a short passage then to finish up.
See you next time.
