The next instrumental we're going to cover is a traditional fiddle tune called Faded Love.
And we're going to do this in the key of A and we're back to normal tuning.
Let's just recheck the tuning for a [A#] second.
D [Bm] B G
[A#] [G]
A little flat there.
[D] D [A#m] B [B] and [G] G.
[A] So this is just a three chord song.
A D and E.
And you're going to hear the band [E] play it up to tempo.
And the things that you'll be hearing after we get through the melody are ascending and
descending lines behind the melody.
So listen for those and then we'll break down the song for you.

[Bm] [Cm] [A] [C#m]

[Am] [D#] [A] [D]
[E] [D] [A]
[E] [A] [F#m]
[E] [A]
[Dm] [A]
here's the basic melody for Faded Love.
[G] [C#m]
[D] [G]
[D] [G#m] [D] [A]
[G] [E] [C#] [D] [Bm]
[E] Now right there instead of just using a straight D major to an E major [D] chord, what I've chosen
to do is leave the B string and the D strings open on the D chord.
[Bm] That open B gives you a D6.
Don't even have to change your tuning.
And then on the [E] E, I'm still leaving that open D string to get an E7.
And continuing on.
[A]
[F#] [C#m] [Bm]
[D] [Gm] [D]
[D] [A] [F#m] [E]
[G] [F#m] Now you can end up on the slant if you want.
Remember we did the backward slant before to catch that A chord.
Again it's on strings one and three.
The tip of your bar is on that seventh fret and then you're just backing your bar a half
fret down on the third string.
So you could do it that way or [E] simply go [G] [E]
[A] back down to your A position on the [C#m] second fret
and maybe just bend [A#] [A] that second string a little bit.
[B] [G#] [Em] [D] [Bm] [Dm] [D] [G]
[D] [G] [Fm] [A]
