I was inspired [D] to learn the guitar because my [G] grandpa was a guitar player.
He wasn't professional or anything, he just was a railroad worker who spent most of his day playing the guitar [D] in an easy chair.
[G] His [C] greatest wish [G] for me was that I would learn how to play, because no one else in our [C] family knew [G] how to do [D] that.
So he [C] gave me a guitar when I was eight years old as a Christmas gift, [G] and [D] that set me on this path.
My [G] main guitar is a 68 Fender Paisley Tele that I [D] got 20-something years ago now.
[G] I always wanted a Paisley Tele.
I'm really a rare case of a person whose last name [C] was a signature [D] model before I was born.
So I [G] eventually saved up and bought one, a 68, made [D]
cool by James Burton.
[C] Otherwise those guitars would still be [G]
this sort of [D] abhorrent, terrible decision that [G] Fender made.
Until he played it with Elvis, and Elvis liked it and said, play that [D] every night.
That's really flashy and [G] really cool, and the next thing you know those [D] are cool.
Anyway, [G] I bought that and it became the guitar I used on almost every album.
[D] It's not on every song by any means, but it [C] is the benchmark to my [G] sound.
It's something that's been [D] modded many times over the years, but where it wound up is sort [G] of my basis.
We've got a new album that came out [D] in May or April, and so it's going [G] to be a journey of single after single off of this.
The album is [D] called Wheelhouse, and it's [G] actually [D] an album meant to expand my [G] horizons,
meant to talk about [D] themes and subjects you didn't expect, [G]
some stylistic things that are different.
It's very heavy on the guitar playing, [D] but at the same time [G] there's some cross-genre guests that are very interesting.
It's really meant to be a song-based [D] record, a record where the song dictated [G] whatever you did stylistically, whoever the guest might be.
We've got everybody from Charlie Daniels to [D] Matt Carney to Dirk [G] Spently, LL Cool J, you name it.
There are just various [D] styles on this record, and all [G] meant to be a country album in the end.
