Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash - Girl From The North Country Guitar Lesson chords
Start Jamming...
This is Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash's Girl from the North Country, the easy way and the correct way.
[G] All right, so know your bar chords.
Okay, we got an RG,
we got an RB minor,
[Bm] we got an RC,
[C]
[Ab] and we got an [G] RG.
Oh wait, I already said that.
Okay, [Ab] so it's only three chords the whole song.
Progression goes over and over [B] and over again throughout the entire song.
The strumming changes up a little bit, okay?
So this is how you play it.
Song starts off slow.
[G] [Bm]
[C] [G]
[Bm] [C]
[G] All right, so that's the [G] song right there.
That's all I'm doing.
[Bb] Notice how they [Gb] play through it once and then [Bm] he comes back to G and he hangs out on G for a little bit,
okay?
That's kind of like the intro.
The intro is played [B] once through that progression and then you play [G] G,
I believe, I think it's [Bb] like four times.
[Ab] So once he [C] plays that four times he goes into the [B] song and it's just that progression [Bb] over and over again.
So you got [G] your G,
your B [Bm] minor,
[C] your C bar chord,
[G] back to your G.
Okay, the strumming pattern in the beginning of the song when the song first starts out is, so it's down,
down, [Bm] and then I mute it with my left hand.
So I'm just taking the pressure, taking the tension off the strings [C] and that mutes it.
Watch.
[G]
Hear that?
[B] Okay, so as soon as I strum [D] through all those strings I let off and I just take the pressure off, okay? [G] So,
then down [Em] up [Bm] and then B minor.
[C] C.
[D] [G]
Okay, [Bb] not too bad.
All right, so that's for the first part of the song.
The song picks up,
all right, [Bm] about halfway through and it starts going.
[G]
[C]
[Bm] So same strumming pattern that down, down, down, up.
However, all I'm [C] doing is I'm just not muting so it gets even easier.
You just play all the way through it.
[Bm]
[C] [G]
Okay, not [Ab] bad.
Now, I don't know who's playing what.
There's a lead and there's a
rhythm part to the song.
[Bb] That's the rhythm part what I just showed you.
I don't know if [Bb] it's Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash and who's playing what though.
So [B] the other part, the lead part of the song, just to tell you what he's doing, and he switches [Ab] it up a lot.
All he's doing is [Eb]
when
when the rhythm guy [G] is on the chord, so
you've got one guy on this G bar chord.
The other guy has a G bar chord, but he's just plucking,
he's [Db] just plucking strings within that G, okay?
So in this [G] case, he's doing
so E, B,
G, E.
All right, and then go to [Bm] the B minor.
All right, so B minor.
[C] All right, then C and then [G] G.
[Bm]
I think there's a little fill that goes [G] something like,
[B] I think it's something [N] like that.
But anyways, that's the whole song, okay?
[B] One [G] guy is playing through the rhythm chords.
[Gb] The other guy is
making the same chords with his hand.
However, he's not strumming [Em] through them.
He's just plucking individual notes.
So [Bb] you and your buddies can have a lot of fun with that.
