Alright, I'm gonna teach you [Em] how you can use the [B] whole tone scale in [C] a different [A] way than [Dbm]
what [A] most people [Am] are doing.
Most people are using the whole tone scale over a [A] dominant chord, for [C] instance over C.
You can [A] use G [D] flat, [Am] [D]
[E] [Gbm]
[Abm] A flat.
[Bb] [B]
[D] [Db] [Gb]
[F] [C] [Eb] What I'm gonna show you here [B] is how you can [Cm] use that scale over a minor chord, for instance a C [D] minor 7.
And it [G] sounds [C] pretty cool.
And then outside, you [Bm] can use actually the B whole tone scale.
[Am] And then the notes would [B] be B, that's [Em] a [Db] major 7, a flat 9, [B] [Eb] a minor [D] [F] 3rd, 11th, [G] F, 5th, [E] G, A, [B] 6th.
[C] [B]
[Ab] So, a possible fingering could [Db] be to use 3 note frets like this.
[Bb] [Am]
[B]
[F] [A]
[C] [D] [B]
Alright, moving up this direction.
I'm [C] gonna show you a few really useful structures out [Cm] of this scale that I like.
[A] You can actually find these augmented triads.
[B] B, B flat, B.
And you just move this, it's really it.
Move it two frets up at a time.
[Db] B flat, F, A [Eb] flat, B, [F]
A, F.
[G]
[A] [Db] And then on [B] a different string, it might [F] look like this.
This looks the same.
Start F here.
[G]
And then you start G here.
[A] [Eb]
[A] [Eb]
[Db] [Eb]
[F] [Eb] [F] [Db]
We can even do [Eb] a full whole [Db] tone arpeggio.
[Eb]
[F] [Eb] [Db]
Pretty cool.
Just go all the way up.
Continue.
[C] Another useful structure is this [G] one that I like.
[Eb] You can
[E] [Cm] [E]
[Cm] move that one around also.
[Db] [Dm] [Eb]
[B] [E] [A]
[B] [C] [Bbm]
[Ab] [B]
Another one [Eb] that I
[Cm] [G] like.
[A]
[G] [F] [Bbm]
[A] A.
[C]
[F] [A]
[G] [Em]
And then you can [F] start mixing this up with [B] chromatic packing tones as well.
[C] And that will create a pretty cool [Db] sound.
[G] [Db] [B] [Db]
[B] [Eb] [A]
[E] [Db]
[A] [Abm] [Bbm] [B]
[Cm] [Db]
[F] [B]
[C]
