[A#m] Hey guys, welcome back.
So today we're gonna do [Bm] something just a little different.
We're gonna do a lick breakdown.
So a lot of you guys saw the video from last week
and had a couple questions about the walk downs
I was doing with the chords.
So we're gonna take a listen
and then we're gonna break it down.
So here's the first little clip.
[E]
[B] [A]
[G] [C#m] [B] All right, so we've discussed these ideas before
with connecting chord inversions.
So let's start there.
We're in the key of E
and I'm walking down from the four to the flat three.
So the E, well, in the key of E, the four is A.
So we're going from A to G, A to G.
We're just playing multiple inversions of that.
So let's break that down.
I'll play it first.
[A] [G] [E]
All right, so let's break it down.
So I'm starting with just a basic E7.
[A]
Then I go to A.
And so from here on out, we're just going from A to G,
A to G.
So the A, same shape, we're gonna go down to G.
[G] Now we're gonna do A [A] again.
[G]
G, [A] A, [G] G, [A] A, and [G] then G.
[E] So at the end, I do a little hammer-on
to get back to that one, to this E.
So I'm going from that G.
[Em]
[G] [E]
[A#] All [B] right, so I've just showed you the full chords,
but I'm really just playing up in that higher register.
So I only plan starting off with the top two strings
to be an E.
[A] [Em] And now the top three, [A] so G, B, and E.
And
[G] now [G#] the middle three, [B] so D, G, [A] B.
[G] [B]
[F#m] [G] [A#]
Cool, so now let's take a listen to that second [C#] example.
[E] [B] [G]
[G#] [F#m] [A]
[F#] [Bm] [A#m] All right, so that's pretty much the same idea.
So now we're gonna start with the E9.
[Bm]
[A] A.
G.
[G]
[F#m] [Em] [D#] Pretty much [F#m] A13.
[C] Well, that 13 really [A] looks like this.
And then I resolve into a nine, so [C#] A9.
[C] But we're just playing the middle three strings.
We're playing that D string, the G string, and A string.
[F#m]
[Em]
So keep that same shape and move it down.
Here's the whole [A#m] idea.
[A] [G] [Em]
[E] All right, cool, so very [N] simple ideas,
but you can see how advantageous it could be
if you just learned to link
those different inversions together.
