Hey guys, welcome to today's lesson.
Today we're talking about triads
and how we can transition between different [Em]
inversions
so we can make a couple of cool riffs and progressions.
So let's get right into it.
[Dm] [Em]
[Dm] [B]
All right, [B] so what I'm doing there,
I'm just going from that C major to [C] D minor.
[Dm]
[C] [Dm]
[C]
[C]
So I'm starting with just a standard C.
[Dm]
D [C] minor.
Back to the C.
[C#m] And now we're gonna do a different inversion.
[C] C.
D [Dm] minor.
[C] Back to C.
[Dm] D minor.
So that's just the first inversion.
[A] [Dm] [C]
Back to the one.
So you might wanna do a little cool hammer-on.
That's how I'm starting off that lick.
[Em]
[Dm] [C]
[Em]
[Dm] [C]
All right, so let's look at some other inversions of that.
You know, that's the same thing.
So now we're taking a C major triad here.
[D#]
D [Dm] minor.
[C] Back to C.
[Dm] [C]
[E]
[Em]
[Am]
[C]
Same thing.
So C.
[Dm] D.
D [C] minor.
Back to C.
[F]
D minor.
[C]
C.
[Dm]
D [C] minor.
Back to C.
[Dm]
[C]
So let's try something different.
Instead of coming down, let's go up.
[Dm] [C]
[Em] [F]
[C]
[Dm] [C]
[F] [C]
All right, so now we have the C.
D [F] minor.
[C] Back to C.
[F#] And so we talked about hammer-ons in the last lesson.
If you wanna look at how I'm working that out,
please visit that last lesson.
I'll put a link in the [C] description.
[F] [E]
All right, so we can also go upstarting the lower register.
So my first two notes would just [C#] be thirds.
So here we go.
[C]
[Dm]
[C] Let's break that down.
So I'm starting with thirds.
C and E.
[Dm] D and F.
[C]
[A]
Then I'm [C] playing my first inversion.
[E] [C]
So here we are.
So here we are.
[Dm] [G#]
All right, so there I'm playing a minor seven, [Dm] D minor seven.
[C] So one, D minor [F] seven.
[C]
One.
[Dm]
[C] [Dm] [C]
[D]
[E]
All right, so these are just some small ideas.
Hopefully this will help get the juices flowing
and [G#] you guys can get a little bit more creativity
just using basic triads to kinda build
your progressions and licks.
Thanks, see you next time.
