[Am] Hey guys what's up, your Hawkshore Hero with Simple Keys, welcome back to another video.
In [E] this lesson I'm going to [C] be teaching you a sweet [Am] chord movement [F] that you can use to
spice up your playing [Am] and it's called the 2-7-1-3-4 chord movement.
So [F] we're going to go [Bb] ahead and dive right in.
[Am] We are in the key of F [Bb] major for this one.
So F is our 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [F] 6, 7 and that will bring us back to the top.
[A] Now as always if you want to learn how to play all 12 keys I [E] do have a guide [F] that you
can download over [Am] at the site.
It's going to walk you through all the 12 [Dm] major and minor keys.
So go ahead and check that out.
[G] And if you also want to learn how to [Am] apply some of these concepts [F] and movements [Bb] I would
highly recommend joining [Am] the Simple Keys Lab.
It's going [E] to be the best [F] place to not only learn a whole bunch of different songs but
also ways to apply [Am] these movements into songs.
So [E] go ahead and check [C] that out.
[Am] And if you also want to understand [F] how music works [Bb] I do have a program [Am] called Master the
[E] Piano where [Am] I take you through the entire [F] musical learning process from scratch.
I'll have that [Bb] link down in the [G] description as well.
[Am] We go over the [E] fundamentals, chords, [Am] progressions and how to [F] break down songs.
So go ahead and check that out if [Bb] you want to take your playing [G] to the next [F] level.
Alright so let's [E] get right into [Am] this.
This shouldn't take too long.
[F] I'm going to play it real quick one more time then I'm going to break [Bb] it down for you.
[Gm] So the movement goes like this.
[Am] [Bb]
Alright so this is a really sweet movement.
Now the chords we're going to be [Gm] using here are a G minor chord in this inversion.
So G, D, G, Bb.
[C] Next chord which is a 7.
It's going to be a C major chord over B.
Over E sorry.
C, E, G, over E.
[F] Then we're going to play an F major chord.
F, C, F, A.
Which is a 1.
Then we're going to play the 3 which [Am] is pretty much an A minor chord.
It's A minor 7 here if you play it this way.
But the way I will voice it will be slightly different each time.
But it's essentially an A, G, C, E.
That's the [Bb] 3.
And then Bb is the 4.
So Bb, Bb, D.
So one more time it's going to go.
[Gm] [C]
[F] [Am] [Bb]
Alright.
It's a very pretty movement.
Now what I do is I use drop 2s to change up the voicings.
So instead of playing the [Gm] root chord I take out the middle note.
That instead [C] then.
It's actually in chords but we're just taking out the middle note [F] and putting it in our bass.
[Am] Next chord.
Now this one you can actually play the whole chord if you want or you can play.
[Bb] That would be if I played a drop 2 for each note.
And then over time you start to develop your ear to kind of figure out like [F] a voicing that
sounds [Gm] good to you.
So like this sounds [C] good to me.
This sounds [F] good.
[Am] This one sounds a little bit empty.
So what I like to do is fill it up by playing either the whole chord or I can add in my
left hand here and play like an F major add 9 over 8 if that makes sense.
[Bb]
That sounds better to me.
Okay.
So [F] that's the movement in a nutshell.
So I'll play it one [Gm] more time.
[C] [F] [Am] [F]
Now there are a few things that you can do to spice this up.
I won't get too deep into it but I'm just going to show you one more way of like how
I play [Gm] this.
All [F]
[Bb] right.
So that movement [Gm] is [C] [F] just [Am] [Bb]
[F] like a grace note right there.
So the grace [E] note is [D] so [F] E F [D] E D then I [C] play C D C.
All [Gm] right.
[C] [F] [Am] [Bb]
[F] All right.
[C] [Bb]
So you can [Dm] use this movement pretty much to either end a song or you can use it for talk
[Bb] music and just kind of spice up a movement going to the fourth tone bass which is a B
flat [Gm] major chord.
[C] [F] [Bb]
[F] All right.
So we're going to end this here.
Don't want to make this too long and let me know if you found [Dm] this helpful.
Leave your feedback in the comment section.
[E] I'm going to see you guys [Am] in the next video.
Take care.
