[Bm] Hey guitar buddies, let's check out the chords to Prince and Kiss.
[A]
I'm a fire, I still burn, [D] I still rise.
[F#] [D]
[A]
[E] I'm an angel,
[Bm] [D]
[Bm]
just like you, extra time in your life.
[N] Hey, great song, great song.
Now I did the guitar solo ages ago, back when I first started doing these lessons,
which was just for a few friends really, just kind of grew from there.
But the chords, ok the guitar's not playing really till the end, ok,
but we might as well do the chords, apart from of course that great famous intro chord,
played with a wah-wah.
So what I'm playing for that first chord is a D9, just on the top four strings.
So E9 sorry, I meant D as my first note, so E9, D, F sharp, B, E.
So 12 on the D string, 11 on the G string, 12 and [Bm] 12.
And of course I'm just using the wah-wah, and just pushing down on the wah-wah as I play the chord.
[N] Ok, and then the chords for the actual song, just three chords, just [A] playing [N] an A7, ok,
just for the intro, and then we're into, don't have to [A] be you, A7.
What's going on?
[D] A D9, classic James Brown funky chord.
[A] Back to A7.
For the chorus, [Bm] E9,
[E] [Bm] [F#] D9, [D] [Bm] E9, [F#] D9, [Bm] and then back to the chord.
[G] After the guitar solo, there's some great funky guitar on the verse.
[C]
[G] [C]
[G] A great little funky lick.
[N] So I'm starting with G, C, G, 12, 13, [C] 15.
[D] So I'm [C] playing, [D] so
[C] two strums, and then a little dampened,
[G#] and then going to an F sharp on the top string, on 14.
So it's now 12, 13, [C] 14.
[D]
[C] [G] And then I'm playing F sharp, E, F sharp, E.
[C] [D] So I'm moving between an F sharp on 14, and then using a bar to play 12 and 13 stays on the B string.
So we've got 12, 13, 12.
[C]
So,
[D] [C] [D]
I've done, second time, [C]
just going down [G] G, F sharp, E.
[C] So just ending now on the 12, 13, 12, G, C, and E.
[D]
[C] [N] Great bit of funky playing from Prince, ok.
And then for the end of the song, the guitar actually plays some rhythm guitar this time.
So we've got the chords, the E9 and the D9, now [Bm] in on the guitar.
And he's playing them
[F#]
[Bm] just in straight, sort of James Brown style.
[D]
[Bm] And
[E] [D]
[E]
then [F#]
[Bm] [N] the final chord.
Great tune, enjoy, kiss.
[A]
I'm a fire, I still burn, [D] I still rise.
