Mr.
Hal Vorpahl, our former bass player and founding member of Uncle Lucius, is a fantastic songwriter.
And I met him way back in the beginning of all this.
And we became friends and he knew a guy that played drums and he picked up a bass because he wanted to be in a band and he never played bass.
And we started Uncle Lucius.
It started as the Kevin Galloway Band, but eventually became Uncle Lucius.
About a year ago, he decided he wanted to take a different turn.
He doesn't want to be on the road all the time.
And we totally get it.
And we wish the best for him.
He's actually wanting to sit home and write and then get into production.
So he threw a couple of songs to us that are definite contenders for this next album.
I feel lucky because he's a great friend and he's an amazing songwriter, but he can't really sing.
And so I have over the years, I mean, we've been at this for over eight years now, I've been his voice and I feel very thankful and I take it as a responsibility.
And he and I are brothers and we kind of believe in a lot of the same things.
And I'm honored to sing a couple of the new songs that Hal Vorpahl wrote.
This one's called Age of Reason.
[E] [F] [G]
[Gm] [G] We're just scared of what we don't know.
So we use [C] pride [G] [C] [G] like a debt we owe.
Oh, we say division comes from within.
[C] [G] But how we're different never mean as much as how we're getting.
[Em] And you may call [C] it high treason, [G] but [F] I'm still calling [C] for [G] the age of reason.
[D] [G]
[Gm] [Em] [Gm] [G] We wave the flag like it bears our name.
We disregard the hurt and [Em] shame.
We [Gm] [G] say tradition comes from within.
But where we come from will never mean as much as where we've been.
[Em]
You may call [C] it high [G] treason, [F] but I'm still calling [C] for [Gm] the [G] age of reason.

We say religion [Bb] [G] comes from within.
[Em] [G] But who we preach to will never mean as much as who we've been.
[Em] And you may call it [C] high [G] treason, but [F] I'm still calling [C] for [Am] [G] the age of [Dm] reason.
