[B] This episode of Uke Minutes is brought to you by Big Island Ukulele [E] Company.
The sign of Hawaii is [Bb] in the wood.
And also, Lanikai Ukuleles.
Lanikai makes you happy.
[G] [E] Aloha Ukulele on the ground, [Eb] this is Eldrine Guerrero and welcome to another Uke [C] Minutes.
[Fm]
[Ab] Alright guys, this time on Uke Minutes we're going to be showing you how you can use your
alternate chords for blues [E] soloing.
[C]
[A] [E]
[A] In an earlier [C] Uke Minute we showed you that for blues we [G] use 1 [Ab]-7-4-7 [E]-5-7.
Now since they're all 7 chords, we can use the notes within the alternate 7 chords [Bb] for blues soloing.
So there are two main alternate chord shapes that we're going to be using for this.
Our [C] G7 alternate chord shape [G]
and our D7 alternate [D] chord shape.
[G] Now let's use our A blues.
[Ab] So for [C] A7,
[A] [Db] our G7 chord shape [A] and
[Bb] [Ab] our D7 chord [A] shape alternative.
These are all A7 chords.
[D] Now next up, our [C] 4 chord, [D] D7, that's [G] already in the chord [A] shape that we want.
So what we're going to do is look for our G7 chord shape alternative.
[C] [Ab]
[D] [C]
[Ab] And our G7 chord shape alternative for our [C] E7 is all the way down here.
[Abm]
[Ab] So now we [E] have,
[C] and [G]
these are all E7 chord shapes.
So now when you're doing your [Db] blues solo, you [Ab] can use the notes within those chords
[D] for your solo.
So it might sound like this.
[Gbm]
[G] [D]
[Gbm] [G]
[A] [G]
[Gbm]
[E] [A] [Bb]
Alright so you can [Ab] take the notes from your alternate chords, beef up your solos, you
can even use your minor pentatonic scale [C] to make it even more [B] awesome.
This is Aldrine Guerrero from [Ab] Ukulele On The Ground signing off.
Aloha.
