[D] [Dbm] [Cm] [D] Hi [C]
[D] [A]
[E] [Em] [Am] [D]
[Eb] and welcome to my tutorial on how to play an
easy blues solo on ukulele
the ukulele is tuned G [C] C
E.
[A]
[C] We'll be playing along
to a band in a box backing track that I created in the key
of A.
We'll be using the A minor pentatonic scale
to play and we'll play it this way starting with the A string
3 open [Bb]
the [G] E string
3 [Em] open the [Bb] C string
2 open [C]
[A] and we'll come down to the second fret
on the G string for the high A
root [Dm] and we're going to play that note along with this note
which is the same note and we can do [A] this.
[Bb] See that?
Real cool lick there.
[Em] We'll be doing licks like this
[F] [Em] Let's [D] [Fm]
[Dm] [C] [D]
[A] [B] crank up our track and see how we would use that scale to play this solo
[Am] [Em] [A] [C]
[A] [A]
[Em] [C] [A]
[Em] [D] [G]
[D] [A]
[Bb]
[A] [E] [Em] [E]
[D] [A]
[Gm] [E] As [A] [N] you can see it was pretty easy to pull notes straight out of the [C] pentatonic scale
[A]
and play a solo.
We're going to go to some
other locations where these same notes will exist.
[G] Let's go to the third fret
on the E and the A string right here and play this
[C]
that [Bb]
[Cm] was [G] 3 on [D] the E string
5 on the E string
3 [Cm] on the A string
[Gm] 5 on the A string.
[C] [E]
[Am] [B] You can also do [Gm] this
[Abm] [Am] [Bbm] [Am]
[Abm] [Cm] That's [Bb] moving up and down chromatically on those two frets
Let's try that with our track
[A] [Am] [A] [D]
[C] [Dm] [A] [Em]
[Am] [A]
[Em] [D]
[Am] [A]
[Ab] [A]
[E] [A] [E] [D]
[Am]
[E] [Gm]
[E] [A] That was pretty easy right?
Next we'll go up to
the fifth fret for an A note and that is the fifth fret
on the E string and we'll use the open A note
right there and we'll do this kind [G] of a Stevie Ray Vaughan [A] thing
and then we can go up [Gm] to the seventh fret
on the A string and the eighth fret on the E string
[C] and play this.
[Eb] So here we go [A]
and [C]
then we can drop back down to here
at [G] the third fret to the fifth fret.
Now let's try that with our track
and combine the things that we've learned so far
[A]
[C] [Am] [Gb] [A]
[G] [Am] [A] [Am]
[A] [Em] [D]
[G] [D] [A]
[E]
[A] [E]
[D] [Am] [A]
Alright [C] [A]
[Gm] [E] [A] [Bm] [A]
let's do one more thing.
We're going to go back to our [C] pentatonic scale here
and
[G] [Am] we're going to do this.
We're going to go from
[B] 3 to 2 [Bb] walking it down
like [G] that.
3, [Ebm] 2
[Em] open like
[Gb] [G] [Am]
that.
Let's try that [E] with our track
[Am] [Em] [Am] [C]
[G] [A] [Gbm] [Am] [Em]
[C] [A] [Am]
[C] [D]
[A]
[Am]
[E]
[D] [Am] [D] [Am]
[Em] [Am] [E]
[A] Alright [Ab] [A]
[G] I hope you see how easy it is
to play a solo on ukulele
in the key of A.
Thanks for stopping by
and have a great day
