[Eb]
Hey [Db] y [E]'all,
[D] [E] [B]
[G] excuse my voice I got a little bit of a cold.
[E] But hey, just to note, this is Open G and there are a [N] few things that give that away.
For one, if you watch the videos of it, and there are a bunch of them from 81 and 82,
the one I'm playing along with is, I guess it's 82 in lead.
But the first thing is, well one, it's in the key of G, that doesn't necessarily mean
it's automatically in Open G, but it's one thing [E] that might lead you to think it, so
that's one thing.
Two is Ronnie plays the solo [Gm] on it, and that's because Ronnie's in standard tuning.
[Dm] [D] And otherwise, for a number like that, sort of a real rock and roll number, no question
Keith would play the solo if he were in standard tuning, but he doesn't do the Chuck Berry
type stuff when he's in Open G.
So that's another thing.
[G] Also you can hear the way Keith is hitting the riff.
You can hear those open strings, because he's kind of doing his show.
And the other part is, when he does that, he doesn't quite bend it up as far as you'd expect.
He doesn't go
[Bb] So that's another thing you can sort of tell, [D] because when he goes up to C, [E] [D] he does slide
it all the way up, instead of going
[E] So that's another thing.
But again, on the [G] main riff, [D]
[G] [D]
[G] that stuff you can do so much easier, and it's not difficult
to do in standard tuning, but if you [C] were in G, it would just be more complicated, it's
so much easier to [G] do it.
So it's Open G.
Lastly, because I know people are going to say, oh no, that's standard tuning.
[N] If you watch this particular video, the Leeds 82 one, he does this one, and then during
the drum intro to Go No Go Go, he switches guitars to one that's in standard tuning.
He switches to his Tele Custom, the black one, and that one's in standard [E] tuning.
I mean, you could still [D]
have the low E string [B] tuned to E, you could do it in Open G, but
he doesn't do that, he's just got the 5 on it, so he [F] switches guitars to standard tuning.
So anyway, that's [Gb] it.
