[Em] We sat at my house for [D] five days or so, which [Em] was really magical.
I mean, it was just the three of us, me and Barry and Kenny Wayne.
That was one of the best times I've had in my music career.
Three [D] of us really, you know, [A] respected and dug each other [Em] and evolved into, we were actually,
we had a few rehearsals at Steven's studio.
Fine [D] by guitar, [C] the players [Em] in the band.
And they decided that we might want [C] to do another, like, super [G] session record.
Turned out Barry and I [C] missed each other by a [A] day on the original super session.
Getting two or three [G] guys together, musicians and singers and [D] songwriters, and do another
record with that concept in [Am] mind.
And we started looking around for who would be [Em] the third one, guitar players.
My idea was Kenny Wayne Shepard.
I have known Kenny Wayne forever, like, from when he was a [Bm] kid.
[Em] [D] Well, [Em] family roots [C] are only about [E] 20 miles apart.
There's still a [Em] family region being from Ruston, Louisiana.
He's from Shreveport.
So we share the swamp.
[F] Deep as the bottom [Gm] of the [F] ocean, pure as a newborn baby.
I'll shine the sun for that's a pretty good [Eb] love.
[Db] [F] Steven and I go back [Eb] almost 10 [Db] years.
[F] I got contacted about doing a record with him.
The two of us looked at each other and thought, why didn't we think of this sooner?
Steven and I and Barry got together, started writing some songs.
It was a [Eb] collaboration [C] between all of us.
[F] When I first started working with Steven, you know, his guitar playing just blew my mind.
Kenny Wayne and Steven could bounce off each other and groove together.
With that in mind, the concept, we left a lot of [F] room for the playing.
[Eb] [F]
Then it became, let's write some songs and see what happens.
And then we wrote six songs in a matter of a few days and [Bb] found a few cover songs.
What was originally a cool idea turned into something very [Ab] special.
We'll bring my [F] drummer in and we'll bring Steven's bass player in.
And then there's familiarity and [Cm] comfort level.
[C] Kevin and Christopher [Bb] just fit together in [C] Canyon Glove.
[F] I thought that first time I just met up was really [Ab] funny.
It was.
[C]
[Db] [Ebm]
[E] [Db] [Fm] [C] That [Fm] sounded good.
That sounded right on the money, baby.
We didn't want to spend more than two or three takes on any one song because it loses its thing.
[D] We have kept to that.
[F] We have cut [Fm] this in seven days.
[Dm] Kenny [F] Wayne and I are great followers of the original [Bb] Delta Blues and Old Bluesmen.
Steven and I have rock backgrounds as well, but the [Eb] blues is the fabric [Bb] that [Fm] holds this [G] all together.
[D] [G]
[D] [G] [D] [G]
We [E] had a really successful writing and spiritual thing together [D] and we hit it right [A] off.
[G]
[E] I mean,
[Em] [A] that solo was bad [B] ass.
It really [E] was.
That's why you're Steven [A] Stills and [D] we are not.

be any better.
