[D] [F] Up to now, I've been showing you how the preamp works with a passive bass.
This bass has a preamp, but I had it turned off.
And here's the bass passive [G] again.
[D]
[G] Right, here's active.
[D] [F] [G] Okay?
So if you have a preamp on your bass, you're not going to need as much EQ from your preamp.
With this sound, [D] [F] [B]
[D] [G]
I just want to add a little bit of compression.
I'll watch the light to see when it kicks in.

[F] [D]
Okay?
A little compression, maybe I want to pull back on the highs a little bit.
[A] [D]
[Bb] [D]
Right?
So it's more subtle stuff when you already have a preamp.
But this thing still comes in handy.
Like I said, you can use it as a direct box, and based on what's going on in the room,
you can start adding with your mid-range to adjust for the room or for the song.
You know what I mean?
So there you go.
I hope this is helpful.
I hope the sound is better.
Hopefully, not just for the preamp, but hopefully this helps explain EQ and compression to you
in general, because I know a lot of bass players have a lot of questions.
So hit me up, Fender.com if you have any questions.
I'll be glad to answer.
Or MarcusMiller.com or MyFace, Facebook, whatever.
I'm on them all.
All right?
Okay.
Have a great day.
Talk to you later.
