Okay, this is the practice video for They'll Know We Are Christians.
And I just realized that I showed you the way we were practicing the E minor, A minor
change today in class, which was playing the E minor with the second and third fingers,
and then just lifting [Am] them up, breaking them down to the A minor.
There's nothing wrong with that, but there's actually a [E] better way to do this song.
Play the E minor with your first [Em] and second fingers.
Okay?
Then, when you change to the A minor, you're going to have to leave your second finger
down, [F] drop your third finger in beside it, and bring your first finger back here to the
[Am] first fret of the second string, to the A minor.
[E] So you're just kind of [Em] twisting, pivoting around on that second [E] finger.
[Em] Second finger never leaves the [Am] guitar.
[Em] Never leaves its [E] position there.
And it helps to [Em] make just a little bend of the wrist.
I kind of lift my elbow out this way when I go to the E minor, and then I tuck it back
[Am] in when I go to the A minor.
Now the beauty in doing it this way is that [A] when you [Em] have an E minor here, your second
finger is still down for the [C] C.
[Em] You just bring the hand around.
This time you tuck the elbow in, tight to your [D] stomach, and bring your wrist in this way.
And then [C] your hand's positioned, and you can reach that big C chord where your hand's all
stretched out there.
So this second finger never leaves the second fret of the [Ab] fourth string during the entire song.
Okay?
It makes it real [Am] simple here.
A minor, [Em] E minor, C.
[E] So your changes you have to make are the E minor to A minor, and then you have to go
from E minor [Em] to C.
[C]
[Em] So go to E minor to A minor, [E] there's a little bit of this elbow movement.
[C] But to go to C, [Em] there's even more.
You bring the wrist around this way [C] to get the hand up and over like that.
[F] Okay.
And again, it's the folk strum.
So if you don't have that down, work on it on the skills practice video for the folk strum.
I'm not going to go over it again on this video.
So we'll go through the song once, I'll tell you the chords, and then we'll sing a couple verses.
[Em] So the intro will be like an E minor, [Am] A [Em] minor, E minor.
E minor.
Stay on the E minor.
[Am] A minor.
[Em] E minor.
Back to [Am] A minor.
[Em] E minor.
Here comes the C, get ready.
[C] C.
[Em] [Am] [Em]
[Am] [Em]
[Am]
[Em]
[Em] [C]
[Em] [Am]
[Em] [Am] [Em]
We will walk with each other.
We will walk hand in hand.
[Am] We will walk with each other.
[Em] We will walk hand in hand.
[Am] And together we'll spread the news [Em] that God is in our land.
[C] And they'll know we are Christians [Em] by our love.
[Am] By our love.
Yes, [Em] they'll know [Am] we are Christians by [Em] our love.
Just give you something to practice with.
They'll know we're Christians.
