[Em] [E]
[N] Okay, that was Shelter from the Storm by [E] Mr.
Dillon.
And you know, he [N] plays, it's an interesting way he plays this song, because [E] he could just
play an E chord like [G] that.
But what he does is he plays [E] it up here.
Very [G] interesting way [C] of playing it, and you know, you [E] can still play the two top strings
open, but see, if you think of the form, he's really playing the E chord like that.
[D] If that's the D chord, [E] you move it up one whole step and you get the E chord, right?
But take off the top two strings, and you can still play them open and you get an E chord.
The second chord, all [B] he's doing is changing this note [E] from that [Eb] note to that note, [E] that.
[Eb] That's [E] all he's doing.
[Eb]
[E] So you go from that chord to [Abm] that chord,
[B] [Bb] and then the only [C]
third chord that he uses is the [A] A.
And again, he [E] plays it in a different, interesting way.
[A] You know, this is the A chord at the fifth fret.
But he's playing it [Dbm] like that, so you can still play it open E,
[E] and you can go from
this transition from [A] that to there pretty easily.
Okay?
[Eb] [E] And it's basically all in the right hand.
It's all strumming.
[Abm] [A]
[E] [A]
[E]
[A] [E] [Abm]
[A] [E]
And then [N] I've written the lyrics down for you.
Now, there [E]
are times [A] where when he comes to the A chord, he actually plays it for two
measures [E] before he goes back to the E when he's singing.
[N] And it happens the same way each verse, but [E] he's not just playing from here to [A] there to
the A [E] and then back to the E again.
There [A] are times where he stays on the A for [C] two measures.
I'll show you what I mean.
[E] [Abm] [A] [E]
[Abm] [A]
[E] Now there's a wall between us.
[A] Something has [E] been lost.
I took too much for granted.
[A] I got my signals crossed.
[E] Just to think that it all began [A] on an uneventful morning.
[E] Come in, she said, I'll [Abm] give you a [A] shelter [E] from the storm.
[A] [E]
[A] Okay, and that's [E] basically it.
He ends it at the end [Dbm] of the song.
He kind of does this.
[A] It sounds like [B] he [A] [Eb] just goes up a [A] full step.
[E] [A] [E] [Abm]
[A] [E]
[A] [E]
[Abm] [Bm] [A]
[E]
[Eb] And that's it.
That's Shelter from the Storm.
