this guitar lesson, I'm going to teach you all how to play the old traditional folk
song called [F#] Shady Grove, and we're going to learn it today [B] in the style of Doc Watson.
And in this lesson, what we're going to do [E] first, I'm going to teach you all the chord
progression for this song, [F] and it's actually pretty simple.
It's just one progression [E] that repeats over and over again throughout this whole song.
And then after that, I'm going to show you all three different ways that you can [D#] play
this progression on your guitar.
And the first way is going to be just a [F#] stripped down [E] rhythm guitar part that you can [F#] play
when you're singing throughout [C#] this whole song.
The second version of this progression is going to be slightly more complex, and it's
going to involve the picking of some individual melody [E] line notes.
So [F#] the second version is going to be really melodic [G#] sounding.
And then the third version is going to be more like a full [F]-on [D#] solo break.
[E] It's going to involve more flat picking, [B] kind of like a lead guitar part [G] that the intermediate
to [F] advanced players can play [D] during an instrumental break of the song.
