Well, a tone machine, ladies and [Eb] gentlemen, is what I'm playing right here.
And now, [G] you know what it is?
Let's review.
It's a Paul Reed Smith [Gb] DGT David [E] Grissom model.
David, a [B] warrior of the night, beautiful [Gm] Austin, Texas [G] guitar player extraordinaire.
And a hell of a nice guy, I might add.
DGT stands for [A] David Grissom Tremolo, so it's got the Paul Reed Smith Tremolo on it.
This guitar is a wonder.
It kind of is an amalgamation of all kinds of delicious things.
It's got a maple top, [Bb] [Am] mahogany body and [F] neck, [D] [Db] and it's got a DGT neck shape.
It's got a [D] nice meaty neck, not too [Ab] meaty for those who [Db] are frightened by a big [Bbm] neck,
but I kind of like [A] a neck with a little bit of [Ab]
[Gb] substance to it, and this is very, very [C] satisfying.
A little taller [Eb] frets on here.
It comes strung with 11s, which [F] is a good thing because that's how I like to roll, [D] especially
on [Eb] the scale neck.
[F] It's got [G] the V12 [Dbm] finish, which is a [D] special finish that they put on.
It's a little bit more [Ab] [G] conducive to [Ab] resonant tone and so on [Gm] and so forth.
Rosewood fingerboard.
[F] The big thing about this guitar, [C] well, among other things, is the fact that it's beautiful
and plays great and all that kind of stuff, is that David worked tirelessly with [G] the people
at Paul Reed Smith to [Gbm] come up with the best pickups [Bb] that [C] go single [E] coil and humbucker
and have [B] good parity [D] between that.
Because a lot of times you get a guitar that sounds good in the single coil [Ab] mode, but then
you put it in humbucker mode and it gets a little nasally or vice versa.
It's hard to find that good match, and this guitar [G] definitely has it.
Now I was trying to exemplify that in that [Gm] first little musical salvo [E] that I played for
you, was [Bb] a combination of using the [C] neck pickup with this push-pull control right here, which
has it when it's up, it's in the single coil mode, and you get this nice
[B] [Gm] down.
[C] [G]
So, a very good pairing, I would say.
You can go in [Ab] between them and not sound totally different.
[Gb] But very, very usable.
[D] Let's go to the middle toggle switch selection, which is [Db] both pickups being played together,
and see what we've got going on there.
All righty?
Shall we?
I'm going to [B] start with the push-pull up so I've got single coil [Gbm] mode.
