[Cm] So this is a C minor [Gm] chord and I'm going to show you guys two different ways to get to this chord.
[Cm] So we can do this.
[B] [Ebm] [Abm] [G] [Gbm]
[D] [Em] [Dm] [Bb] [Eb]
I'm right [Gm] there.
And again, this takes you to literally any minor chord that you
want to go to.
And you'll notice [Cm] that I moved down [B] half [Bb] steps [A] with [Ab] this left hand.
[F] The [Gb] second version
[Cm] is going to [Bm] be a little bit [Bbm] more creative.
[D] [Db] Now what [Bb] we're going to do is we're going to start [Eb] here.
So we'll start with this chord right here [G] and you'll [Gb] notice that [F] this [E] [Eb] note [D] goes [Db] down [C] [B] semitones.
[Bb] So watch this.
[Em] [Abm]
[Db] [Dbm] [B] This pattern moving [D] down.
[G] [C] [G]
[Cm] This is a C minor 9 with the 11.
Now this takes you to
literally [Eb] any minor [Fm] chord.
So we're going to take our [Bb] time.
And of course, these are chromatic
[Eb] movements, but these are [G] all [Ab] 2-5-1 [Em] chromatic chord progressions that you guys [Bb] can start using
[Cm] instantly in basically any song.
So we're [Abm] also going [Gm] to show you guys how to use these in a
real life [Ab] application.
[G] [Cm] So let's jump in.
So in that first example, I went down chromatically
with the left hand and we dropped this [B] down.
[Fm] [A] I broke this [Ab] down [Dm] in our [Gb] Play It [Cm] Now series.
[Bm] [Db] And a lot of you guys have shown a lot of support for that.
So let's go with the [Eb] second version
where we started off with this chord.
[Abm] [G] And what you'll notice is with this G in the left hand,
step one, we'll take this down half steps.
So we'll go here, [Gb] here, [F]
here, [E] [Eb] here.
And this [D] just
goes down [Db] semitones or [C] half steps.
[B] So this is our step one.
[Bb] And [G] what we can do is we can create
a 2-5-1 type of feel.
What I like to do is if you go down a major third from here.
[F] [Eb] So if you look at
this from E flat down to a fifth, [Db] [C]
[Ab] takes us to an A flat.
So if [Eb] we have this here and we [Ab] go down
to the fifth or 2-5, [Eb] so we have E flat down [Ab] here.
Well, [G] what do we do with this note here?
[Gb] [E] [D] It continues [Db] to go down.
[Eb] So watch this.
[Ab]
Remember this goes down a half step [Db] because [F] we want to
create that third again.
So here's 3-2 [Db]-1.
Remember this goes down a half step.
[E] So you can [Eb] hear this.
[Ab]
[Db] [Gb] Let's keep this going.
[B] [E]
Keep it [Db] going.
[D] [G] And [Bb] [C] there we are.
We're ending on [Bb] this C [Gm] minor.
Now real quick, before we go [Cm] to this next section, I would love for you guys [Fm] to give this video a
thumbs up.
[G] That keeps me [Eb] encouraged.
Only takes a couple of seconds to [Ab] click that thumbs up button.
And also if you [Am] want to have [B] a little conversation [Bb] below, if you want to [Eb] say,
what's up Casey?
Or if you have a question, leave that question below.
So with that being said and
[N] let's keep this moving.
Now, the cool thing about this is this will take you to literally any minor
chord.
So I don't want you to feel limited to do exactly what I'm doing.
I want to equip you
with the tools so that you can be able to go to any minor chord at the drop of a dime.
[Eb] So this
is a passing [Db]
chord to [Abm] an A flat minor [B] nine.
You can see here.
So what [Eb] did I do with my right hand
here?
[Bb] I have a, and if you look at this, even though it shows I'm in the key of E flat, we're
going to be moving to different keys here, but this is a C sharp or [Db] D flat diminished seventh
chord.
And then [Ebm] we're going to take this down [B] here to this B major seven.
So watch [Eb] this.
[Abm]
So
anytime you want to get to that [Eb] A flat minor
[Abm] and you're probably thinking, well, when would I ever
go to an A flat minor?
All right.
So let's [B] say we're doing a song in the key of B.
Oh, say, [Eb] can
you [Abm] see?
So that's [B] a quick, easy way to get you to a [Bb] one, seven, [Ab] six in [B] the key of B.
[E] [B] Uh, how great is our God sing [Eb] with me?
How [Abm] great.
So [N] that's when you want to use that A flat minor
chord, or it can be a six chord or two chord.
We won't get too deep into that, but anytime you want
to get to a minor chord, that's the purpose of this exercise.
So we have [Db] this.
[Dbm] Let's go to the [Gb] next [B] one.
[G] So you see this pattern is taking us down whole steps to the different [Ab] minor chords, A flat minor,
[Gb]
G flat or F [E] sharp minor, E [D] minor, D [C] minor, C minor.
[Bb]
So feel free to check out the PDF because I'm
going to, we're [Ab] going out whole [E] steps [C] here.
[B] There are [F] also [Eb] [Db] these that [B] we have to go to and I'll be
sure to include those [Eb] in our free club.
And those of you are wondering our free club [Fm] is a one-time
[G] donation [Fm] and you get access to [Ab] all the PDFs, the mini files, and even [Em] some of these [Gm] videos include
play along tracks.
So [F] you get [Cm] this video lesson last week's video lesson, the week before [Gm] last,
last month, last year, you get [Ab] it.
All right.
[G] So that one [Cm]-time donation gets you access to all [Eb] the
free updates.
All right.
[Ab] So [Eb] let's continue this whole pattern here.
Now, now that you understand
the theory behind this,
[B] [Db] [Dbm]
[B] slow this down.
[Bm]
Next [A] one, three, four, five, [C] three, because I'm in the key [D] of
C.
[Am] This is my two chord, which is a [D] D minor [C] in the key of C.
[D] And then last but not least, I think [G] we
went here.
[Eb] Yeah, there we [G] go.
[Eb]
And that's the cool thing about this exercise.
It takes you down whole
steps and also gets your ear acclimated to hearing progressions that take you to a [Db] one chord.
And
that's why we call this a two, five, one, because five to the one, the one is minor.
So let's talk
about using these in a real life application.
So we have [B] lift [Fm] every [Gb]
voice [Bb] and [Ebm] sing.
Watch this.
[Eb] Till earth [Abm] and [D]
heaven [Ebm] ring.
[Bb] What did I do there?
[D] [Ab] That same [Gb]
[Bb] five [Eb] to the one.
So I did this five
[Ab] to the one because one, my destination is a flat minor.
So anytime you want to go to a minor [Eb] chord,
[Abm] [Bb]
[Db] heaven ring, [Eb] ring [F] [Db] with [Abm] the [Gb] [B] harmonies
[Ab] [Cm] [Db] of [Gb]
[Fm] liberty.
I was trying to see if there's another [Db] one.
[B] [Fm]
[Gb] We [Bb] can do this.
[Eb] [Ab] So there's,
[Bbm] [Eb] so anytime you want to go to the E [Bb] flat minor,
[Ab] [Bbm] there you go.
[Db] All right.
So [Gb] amazing grace, how [B] sweet the [Gb] sound.
Here we [Ab]
go.
[Bbm] That's [Gb] saved,
or how [B] great is [Gb] our God.
Sing [Bb] with me.
How [Bbm] great.
[Db] Every time this works, I promise you.
[Abm] All [Ab] right.
[Bbm] You all know [Eb] that I never [Fm] like to prolong any of my [G] videos.
[Bb] I would love you guys
to give [Eb] me a thumbs up [G] and [Ab] definitely comment below.
[Dm] I'd love to hear [F] from you guys, [Bb] but you
know that today is [F] a new day, a [Eb] new life, and a new opportunity for you to become a better you.
I love you guys so [Ab] much.
[G] Here's another [Ab] video talking about two, five, one [Eb] chord progressions
that will [Bb] take your playing [Fm] to the next level.
