So I just created this amazing 2-5-1 chord progression trick that [C] works in literally any
song.
So let's keep it simple.
We'll do a song that all of us are familiar with.
We'll do
Twinkle Twinkle Little [F] Star [Dm] How I Wonder What [C] You Are.
Twinkle [Gm] [C] Twinkle.
[C#m] There it is.
[F#m] [B] [Cm] [Em]
[A] [D] [A#m] Little star.
[Dm] [C] How I [D]
[E] wonder.
[D] What.
[G] Here it is.
[Bm] You [C] are.
[G] I'm telling you guys,
you're going to have so much fun in this piano tutorial.
So if this is your first time here,
[G#] my name is KC and welcome to our Pretty Simple Music channel where my number one goal and my
musical journey.
So you guys probably noticed I kept the melody line at the [C] top the entire time.
So for this song, we played Twinkle Twinkle [A] and [C]
[F] [Em]
[G] [C] you want to keep that melody line at the top.
It
doesn't matter what song you're playing.
Keep the melody line at the top and these chromatic jazz
[N] 2-5-1 chromatic passing chords or chord progressions will work perfect every time.
Okay,
so now we're at step number two.
Here's the cool thing about step number two.
We're going to do
some 2-5-1 chord progressions and we're going to keep this super simple guys.
We're going to do
2-5-2-5-2-5 in different keys.
Now if you can't play in all 12 keys, you're in luck because I
created a full length tutorial and it's [F] absolutely free here on our YouTube channel called 72 chord
progressions where I show you how to play the 2-5-1 in all 12 keys.
So for example, if we're in
the key of F.
1 [A#]-2-3 [D]-4-5 [F]-6-7 [G]-1.
So here's 2 [Cm]-5.
[E] Now don't go to the 1.
Now I want you to do a 2-5
in the key of E.
[G#] 1-2 [C#]-3-4 [E]-5-6-7 [F#]-1.
So [B] 2-5.
[D] That's all you're going to do in E and then do a 2-5
in the key of D.
[F#] [B] 3-4 [D]-5-6-7 [E]-1-2 [A]-5.
Now let [C] me show you how we're going to plug this in.
So we're in
the key of C.
So we have a twinkle.
Do a 2-5 in F.
[G] [C] Twinkle.
Now watch this.
Little.
We're going to do a 2-5
in the key of E.
[F#m] Little.
[B] Now watch this.
Star.
We're going to do 2-5 in the key of D.
[Em] Star.
[A]
Now watch this.
[Dm] We're going to do 2 and then we'll sustain that to the 5 in the key of C.
How [E] I wonder to the 5 [Gm] what you [C] are.
So all we did was a bunch of 2-5-1 chord progressions,
but we didn't go to the 1.
Now real quick before we get too deep into this lesson, I would love
you guys to join our free club.
In the free club, you will get access to the PDF that will make
learning this material so much easier.
You get a study guide and that's not just for this lesson.
That's for last week's lessons.
The last month, last year, year before last.
There's so many
different educational tools that I'm including absolutely free in our free club and so your
donation allows you to have access to all of those digital files.
Now in step three, what we're going
to do is we're going to play the chords and we're going to plug in that chromatic drop that brings
this 2-5-1 chord progression to life.
Okay, so check this out.
Twinkle, [Gm] twinkle.
Now I really want you to
pay attention to the lowest note in my left hand.
It'll be the 2-5.
[C] Twinkle, [C#m] [F#m]
[Dm] little [Cm] [Em] [G] star.
[A] [A#m] [Dm] [C]
[E] [D] How I [Am] wonder [G] what you [C] are.
Now let's talk about this.
So we did a twinkle.
That's the one chord.
Look at that melody line at the top.
Here it is.
[Gm]
[C] Twinkle.
[Gm] Now let's talk about this.
This is my 2
to [C] the 5 in [D] the key of [C#m] F.
[F]
1 [Gm]-2 [C] [F]-5 [C]-1.
So watch this.
Twinkle.
This chord [Gm] right here.
Twinkle.
That's my 2 in the key of F.
Twinkle.
Left hand is a G7 with a nice little B flat 6 chord there.
Twinkle.
Here we go.
Plug that together.
You get a nice minor chord.
Twinkle.
Now watch [C] this.
All you have to do
is if you're going to the C, I want you to play a C major chord second inversion.
So here's C
first, second.
And that's all you need in order to play this 2-5 chromatic drop.
So watch this.
Twinkle.
[Gm] Here it [C] is.
And what we're going to do is we're going to drop this
this C chord.
We're just going to drive it down chromatically.
Twinkle.
[Dm]
[C#m] See how I [Em] did that?
Just take it [D#m] down half step.
Half step, [Dm] half [C#m] step, half step.
One more time.
[C] Twinkle.
[Gm]
Twinkle.
Let's drop it down.
[C] [F] Twinkle.
[C#m] [C]
There's a C chord.
Drop the outside down.
[Dm] [C#m] [C] So twinkle.
[Gm]
[C] [F] [C#m] Twinkle.
Watch this.
[E] Now we're in the key of [E] E.
We're going to [F#m] do a 2
[B] [E]-5 [C] without the 1.
So twinkle.
[Gm] Twinkle.
[C] Drop it down.
[C#m]
[F#m] There's my 2 in [E] the key of E.
[F#m]
And I want to keep that melody line at the top.
So here's the chord.
That's an F sharp.
The nice little A9 there.
[C#m] Now what we're going [B] to do when
we get to that B, you got it.
First, second inversion.
You're going to drop that down chromatically.
[D#m]
So
[F#m] [B] [D#m] B.
[F#m] So little [B] [D#m]
star.
[G] Now I'm in the key [Em] of D.
That's my 2 chord [D] in the key of D because here's [E] 1,
2.
[Em] [E] And that's the 2 chord that I chose to use, which is a [Em] E minor.
Nice little E minor 7 with
the 11.
Watch [A] this.
We're going to an A.
So what are we going to do?
We're going to play an A
first inversion, second inversion.
[B] [A#m] [A] So we did an A chord and take the A out and we're just going to
drop this [Bm] down.
[A#m] [Dm] How I
Now I did something different here.
[F] I did a nice little [D] classical
move.
[G#m] One.
[D] [E] So this is not part of this lesson, but I'll give this to you for free.
I mean,
the whole lesson is free, [D] but
[Bm] Wonder.
[D] So what I'm [E] thinking right there, I'm thinking an E major
chord.
Here's E.
First, second [D] inversion.
And I'm playing [E] this over that [D] D.
[E] And then I'm just
going to pivot out of this.
[Bm] [Am] [D]
[Bm] So that's this.
[D] [Bm] [D]
[Am] [E] [Bm] [Am]
Wonder.
[G] What?
Now we're on that G.
What are we going to do?
You got it.
Do the G drop.
So root, first, second.
What?
And here's that G chord, guys.
Drop [B] this down.
What [E] you [C] are.
[G] And the cool thing about this, again, you can use this in any song.
[C] So [Gm] amazing [C] grace, [C#m] [F#m] how sweet [B] [Cm] [C] the [Em] sound [B]
[E] [Am] [G#m] [E] [Am] that saved.
And it's [G#m] basically when you get to the five,
you play that five chord and you drop that five chord down chromatically.
So again, I never like
to prolong my videos.
[Fm] I want you all to know I love you so much.
And remember that today is a new
day, a new life, and a new opportunity for you to become a better you.
Feel free to check out the 72

[F#m] Little.

We're going to do 2-5 in the key of D.

[C] [F] Twinkle.
[C#m] [C]
There's a C chord.
Drop the outside down.
[Dm] [C#m] [C] So twinkle.
[Gm]
[C] [F] [C#m] Twinkle.
Watch this.
[E] Now we're in the key of [E] E.
We're going to [F#m] do a 2
[B] [E]-5 [C] without the 1.
So twinkle.
[Gm] Twinkle.
[C] Drop it down.

[D] _ So what I'm [E] thinking right there, I'm thinking an E major
chord.
Here's E.
First, second [D] inversion.
And I'm playing [E] this over that [D] D.
[E] _ _ _ And then I'm just
going to pivot out of this.
_ [Bm] _ _ [Am] _ [D]
[Bm] So that's this.
[D] _ _ _ [Bm] _ _ [D] _
[Am] _ _ _ [E] _ [Bm] _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ Wonder.
[G] What?
Now we're on that G.
What are we going to do?
You got it.
Do the G drop.
So root, first, second.
What?
And here's that G chord, guys.
Drop [B] this down.
What [E] you [C] are.
[G] And the cool thing about this, again, you can use this in any song.
[C] So [Gm] amazing [C] grace, _ [C#m] _ [F#m] how sweet _ [B] _ [Cm] _ [C] the [Em] sound [B] _
_ [E] _ [Am] _ [G#m] _ _ [E] [Am] that saved.
Feel free to check out the 72
chord progressions, just in case you don't know how to play your two five ones and all 12 keys.
See you guys on next Monday.
_ _ [N] _ _
song.
So let's keep it simple.
We'll do a song that all of us are familiar with.
We'll do
Twinkle Twinkle Little [F] Star [Dm] How I Wonder What [C] You Are.
_ Twinkle [Gm] _ [C] Twinkle.
[C#m] There it is.
[F#m] _ _ [B] _ [Cm] _ _ [Em] _ _
[A] _ [D] _ [A#m] Little star.
[Dm] [C] How I [D] _
[E] wonder.
[D] _ _ What.
[G] Here it is.
[Bm] _ You [C] are.
[G] I'm telling you guys,
you're going to have so much fun in this piano tutorial.
So if this is your first time here,
[G#] my name is KC and welcome to our Pretty Simple Music channel where my number one goal and _ _ my
musical journey.
So you guys probably noticed I kept the melody line at the [C] top the entire time.
So for this song, we played Twinkle _ Twinkle [A] and [C] _
_ _ [F] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ [C] _ you want to keep that melody line at the top.
It
doesn't matter what song you're playing.
_ [F#] [B] 3-4 [D]-5-6-7 [E]-1-2 [A]-5.
Now let [C] me show you how we're going to plug this in.
So we're in
the key of C.
So we have a _ twinkle.
Do a 2-5 in F.
[G] _ _ [C] Twinkle. _
Now watch this.
Little.
We're going to do a 2-5
in the key of E. _
[F#m] Little.
[B] _ _ Now watch this.
Star.
We're going to do 2-5 in the key of D.
[Em] Star.
_ [A] _
Now watch this.
_ Twinkle, _ [Gm] twinkle.
Now I really want you to
pay attention to the lowest note in my left hand.
It'll be the 2-5.
_ _ [C] Twinkle, [C#m] _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ [Dm] little [Cm] _ _ _ [Em] [G] star.
_ [A] _ [A#m] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ [C] _
_ [E] _ [D] How I [Am] wonder _ [G] what _ you _ [C] are.
Now let's talk about this.
So we did a twinkle.
That's the one chord. _
_ Look at that melody line at the top.
Here it is.
[Gm] _
_ _ [C] Twinkle.
_ [Gm] Now let's talk about this.
This is my 2
to [C] the 5 in [D] the key of [C#m] F.
[F] _
1 [Gm]-2 [C] [F]-5 [C]-1.
So watch this.
Twinkle.
This chord [Gm] right here.
_ Twinkle.
That's my 2 in the key of F.
_ Twinkle.
Left hand is a G7 with a nice little B flat 6 chord there.
Twinkle.
Here we go.
Plug that together.
You get a nice minor chord.
Twinkle.
Now watch [C] this.
All you have to do
is if you're going to the C, I want you to play a C major chord second inversion.
So here's C
first, second.
And that's all you need in order to play this 2-5 chromatic drop.
So watch this.
_ Twinkle. _
[Gm] Here it [C] is. _ _
And what we're going to do is we're going to drop this
this C chord.
We're just going to drive it down chromatically.
Twinkle.
_ _ _ [Dm] _
[C#m] See how I [Em] did that?
Just take it [D#m] down half step.
Half step, [Dm] half [C#m] step, half step.
One more time.
[C] Twinkle.
_ [Gm] _
Twinkle.
Let's drop it down.
[C] [F] Twinkle.
[C#m] _ [C] _ _
There's a C chord.
_ _ Drop the outside down.
[Dm] _ [C#m] _ [C] So twinkle.
[Gm] _ _
_ [C] _ [F] [C#m] Twinkle.
Watch this.
[E] Now we're in the key of _ [E] _ _ E.
We're going to [F#m] do a 2 _
_ [B] [E]-5 [C] without the 1.
So twinkle.
[Gm] _ Twinkle.
[C] _ Drop it down.
[C#m] _ _
[F#m] _ There's my 2 in [E] the key of E.
[F#m] _ _
_ And I want to keep that melody line at the top.
So here's the chord.
That's an F sharp.
The nice little A9 there.
_ _ [C#m] _ Now what we're going [B] to do when
we get to that B, you got it.
First, _ second inversion.
You're going to drop that down chromatically.
[D#m] _
So
[F#m] _ _ _ [B] _ [D#m] B.
[F#m] So _ little [B] _ [D#m] _
star.
[G] _ _ Now I'm in the key [Em] of D.
That's my 2 chord [D] in the key of D because here's [E] 1,
2.
[Em] _ [E] And that's the 2 chord that I chose to use, which is a [Em] E minor.
Nice little E minor 7 with
the 11.
Watch [A] this.
We're going to an A.
So what are we going to do?
We're going to play an A
first inversion, second inversion. _
[B] _ [A#m] [A] So we did an A chord and take the A out and we're just going to
drop this [Bm] down.
[A#m] _ _ [Dm] How _ I_
Now I did something different here.
[F] I did a nice little [D] classical
move.
[G#m] One.
[D] _ _ [E] So this is not part of this lesson, but I'll give this to you for free.
I mean,
the whole lesson is free, [D] but_
[Bm] Wonder.
