I'm here [C] at Capitol Studios, which is mind [N]-blowing.
I can't believe I'm here.
It's going to be quite the day.
Really excited.
Today I'm going to [E] be recording some off-the-floor [Db] versions of the songs that you can [N] expect
on my next album.
And Quincy Jones is going to be producing and behind the board, and it's pretty insane.
I'm going to be in Studio A.
Frank Sinatra recorded here for the first time in 1956 in
Studio A.
Wow.
[Fm]
When you walk in, you feel the presence.
You feel like people have been there [Bb] before, have [Bm] made history in there.
Some of my favorite artists have recorded here.
Not only Frank Sinatra, but Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, The Beatles.
[B] My favorite band [E] ever.
And the acoustics in that room are so unbelievable, because everything is recorded on the floor.
It'll definitely get everybody [Ab] really pumped, I think, to just jam.
[Bb] I'm really looking forward to [E] this.
[N] Hey, baby.
Hey, Q.
How are you?
Quincy has a way of making everybody feel very comfortable and at ease.
Y'all look bad now.
You know that?
Bad.
Oh, yeah.
Y'all look bad.
Y'all bad.
Yeah, hell yeah.
I think that even if they are feeling a little nervous, that'll all go away when they meet him.
[Eb] I met Quincy for the first time when I was about 14 years old.
We met through a mutual [G] friend, and I [N] sang for him.
And since then, he's just been [G] behind me 100%.
Just such a great supporter and such a great mentor and friend.
I decided to work with Nicky because Nicky has it.
Whatever it is, you know, it is when God leaves his hand on the shoulder a little longer than other people.
And they have the instinct, they have the technical ability, and they have the feeling, they have the soul.
And that's what Nicky has.
I kind of feel like I'm hopefully going to be a part of his legacy [Abm] here, if these sessions go [N] according to plan.
Okay, ready?
[G] You never say no lies to me, baby
When [Gm] I walk in the room
[Dm] [Gm] Not that you've read the magazines, [Bb] right
So let me tell you the news
Uh, [Gm] [D] uh, hey
Have [C] you heard there's a new sensation
Extra, [D] extra, I'm coming at [Gm] you
I know you want it, hey, you know it's true
The beat is bopping, it's moving you
Uh [C]-huh, your toes are tapping down in your shoes
[Dm] I feel you dropping a different groove
[D] Hey, let me [C] show you what I want [Bb] to roll to
If you can't [A] get old school, [Ab] I could be your [Gm] something new
I got a treat for ya
Something to make you smile
It needs [E] a little bit of [Bb] heat, let [Gm] it simmer a while
[D] Oh, yeah, hey
Have you [C] heard that I'm sweeping the nation
[D] Extra, extra, I'm talking to [G] you
I know you want it, you know it's true
The beat is bopping, it's moving you
[Gm] Your toes are tapping down in your shoes
[G] I feel you dropping a different [D] groove
Hey, let me [C] show you what I want to [Bb] roll to
