I wanted to make an album that was true to [G] me.
I've been [C] kind of anxious even on the
way over to [G] LA on the plane.
I was like I'm nervous.
I was sitting on the plane for 11
hours.
I was like why am I nervous?
But it's the first time that [C] I've put pen to paper
in that form and given [G] myself over.

[Am] When you grow up in a small town, [C] the first thing you
want to do is get out of there.
[G] I come from a small [C] little market town with a canal running
through it.
A lot of family owned businesses, three or four schools, 26 pubs in one [G] mile.
Quite impressive.
[C]
I think the older you get and the more I've travelled, [G] the more you've
realised how good it was [C] and how my upbringing has paved the way for the person that I am
[G] now and I'm happy for that.
[Cm]
I always knew that if I was to make an album, what it would
sound like.
Our music is traditional Irish acoustic guitars, up-tempo, [C] which then links
itself into folk music which then takes it into country music.
So there's a good balance
between Ireland and America I think.
I grew up on bands like the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac.
You know I just kind of want to let people my age know that the [F] music back then is so
[G] good.
I wanted to recreate it and put my own [C] more modern [G] twist on it.
I played [C] the
whole album with a live band which straight away gives you that feel [F] of you're in the
70s, you're in the 80s, whatever it be.
[C] We were just jamming [Fm] out, we just had a red button
on and [D] recording it [Fm] and it was a really cool [G] experience.
The songs that mean the most to
me I've kind of written on my own at home, sitting in my living room, guitar in my hand.
When you're a teenager you write about teenage stuff and that's fair enough.
But I do feel
like this is the first time that I've written from an adult's perspective.
[C] I am only 24
but I feel like what I've been doing for the last 5 or 6 years has helped me to mature
a little bit quicker than a lot of people would.
[Em] [F] [C] I've been sitting on a lot of these
songs for a long time.
It kind of feels like I'm sliding it across the table to the [G] fans.
You [F] have that now, [C] it's yours.
