[Eb] Welcome to Eric Blackmon Music.

[Gb] Welcome [B]
[Gb] [G] to my tutorial on how to play Memories [N] by Maroon 5 on acoustic guitar.
In the example at the beginning of this video, the guitar is tuned one half step down to match the key of the recording.
The guitar that I'm using for this tutorial [Gb] is tuned [Eb] standard [Gb] E A D [Eb] G B [N] E so that it is easy for you to learn.
However, if you decide to play along with the original recording, you will have to tune down to E flat as I did.
This guitar is tuned standard [E] E A [Em] D G B E.
And this [N] song has the same chord progression as Paco Bell's Canon in D.
But we will be playing the song in C major to keep it easy.
Our chords will be [C] C, G, [G]
A [Am] minor, [Em] E minor, [F] F,
[C] C, [F] F,
[Dm] [G] G.
In order to get the strumming sound of the song, we'll [N] play the chords this way.
With the C, we'll start with the A string, pick the [C] A string, the D string, and then strum downward.
Like that.
[Gb] [N] We'll go to the G chord and we'll play it this way.
Picking [G] the low E string and then follow through with the strum.
Like that.
[Bb] So [C] it's
[G] [Bb]
[Em] Then we'll go to the A minor chord, strum the A string [A] first, the D [Am] string, and then the chord.
And then back to the [F] E minor [E] chord.
[Em] Like that.
So [G] if you understand what's going on there, each chord will be strummed in this order.
Two strings, [C]
a strum, [G] and then one string, and a strum.
And we'll repeat that [B] pattern working our way through all the chords.
So here [G] we go with the C strumming from the A [C] string,
[G] the G from the low E,
the A minor chord from the A [A] string, [Am]
[Em] the [Gb] E minor chord from the low [E] E string,
[Em]
the [G] F chord from the D [F] string, [E]
and the C chord from the [C] A string,
[G] the F chord from the [F] D string, [G] the G chord from the E string.
So here it is.
[C]

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
