[D] [A] Hey guys, it's Karl Brown from Guitar Lessons 365.com.
Today we're going to take a look at the all-time classic, Louis Louis.
So I'm just going to take a look at the chords here.
If you guys really want to learn that guitar solo, just let me know and I might do it.
I don't know.
So anyway, let's take a look at this.
Now this is a good rhythm exercise, this song.
It's just three simple chords, but the same chords for the verse and the chorus, but they
are distinctly different rhythms.
So they're good things to practice.
All right, so let's start here.
Let's just look at the chords real quick.
We're going to start with just this A major chord.
So that's just a, you don't even have to do a full bar really.
He's just playing the fifth fret here on the low E, seven on the A, seven on the D, [C#] and
then sixth [A] on the G.
Now you can do the full bar if you want to hit the whole chord or whatever.
It doesn't really matter.
Sometimes you just hit the power chord, the three bottom strings if you really hear that.
So we have that.
Then it really goes to a [D] power chord on the D note here, the fifth fret on the A string.
So that's fifth fret on the A, [A] then seven on [D] the G and the D.
Now [F#] sometimes they'll
get the seventh [D] fret on the B string as well, make it a full D major chord.
And then we're going to move up two frets here, bar chord here, and we're going to [E] have
seventh on the A, nine on the D and the [Em] G, and then eight on the B string, E minor chord.
[A] So we have this, [D] [Em]
[D] and then back to the D, [A] and then repeat.
[D#] So that's the [C] four chords basically.
[A] We just [D] go A, G, [E] E [D] minor, [A] D, back to A.
All right, so how does these rhythms work?
Let's start with the chorus.
It sounds like this.
[D] [Em]
[D] [A] [D]
[Em] [D] [A]
[D] [Em] [D] [A]
[D] [Em]
[D] [A] All right, so we start with three distinct hits on the first chord, and then two on the [D] second.
All right, then move up to that E minor chord, and this is where he kind of [Em] mixes it up a little.
He's just going to down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up, and then back
[D] down to the D just for two quick hits.
[A] So we have this.
[Em] [D]
[Em] [D] [A]
[D] [Em]
[D] [A] [D] [Em]
[D] [A]
[D] [Em] [D] [A] Now for the chorus, you're going to hit one time on the A, and then [D] hit it again real
[A] quick to move into the D.
[D] And then the same thing, the D, [Em] hit that real quick before you
move up to the E minor, and then you do that same kind of strumming pattern on the E minor
that you did before in the chorus.
Kind of let that ring out a little bit longer.
[E]
Hang on that chord just a little bit longer.
It doesn't go straight back to the D so quickly as it did in the chorus, and [D] then you go back
to the D, just [G] two hits.
We have [A] this.
[D]
[E] [D] [Em] [D] [A]
[D] [Em]
[D] [A] Now, you see I'm killing the notes there just by releasing the pressure in the left-hand fingers.
[D]
[Em] [D] [A]
[D] [Em]
[D] [A] And the chorus.
[D]
[Em] [D] [A]
[D] So [E] that chorus is just a little bit more aggressive because it's a chorus.
You kind of want to open up the song a little bit.
So that's pretty much it for Louie Louie.
It's a fun one to play, and you lock in with those rhythms, and it really comes together.
I hope you guys enjoyed it.
And once again, if you really want to learn that solo, you're really going to sit down
and do that solo, then I'll do it.
But just don't leave a comment saying, do the solo, and you'll never look at it.
All right?
Do me that favor.
All right.
I'll see you guys again soon for GuitarLessons365.com.
