train station and also local [Ab] artists from that area [G] would, you know, like schedule a
coven and hang their work at the local, like a traveling art exhibit and conceptual stuff.
Like one of the famous artists from [D] LA [G] just got out of the train and made like everybody
in the country, almost.
And they wanted me to [C] play, they wanted me to [G] get on the train
in Lawrence, Kansas and just make a bunch of music on the train.
[Gbm] And they would like,
they [G] would film that and then we'd get out of the train in a couple places.
I've been
talking about it.
[D] I mean, I've got a really great crew and I've got like, you know, I'm
used to things [Ab] sounding just so.
[Eb] And we started talking about [A] like how many [G] guitars I could
bring and how many people I could bring and [E] it just, I could tell them, [Eb] I [G] could use a
train of my own.
[D]
So what I did is instead, I [C] [G]
just went to Winslow, Arizona, which [D] is
one of the stops.
[N] [G] And we recorded.
Then we went home and recorded some more.
But this
song is inspired by the old guys I used to run into [Em] on the railroad tracks near my house.
There was a railroad truss on them.
They kind of like, they'd set up camp on them.
[G] A couple
[Em] [C] of times they got [G] me to go home and make them a [D] sandwich.
They were cool old guys.
They
more or less just lived on the trains.
So this song is for them.
I'm walking on the [C] rail, looking up and down this [G] railroad.
I'm walking on the rail, looking
up and down this train.
[Em] All I gotta see is a place for me to grab a hold of.
[C] And I'll
be on this train and I won't be back again.
I'm overqualified for any other ride I can
think of.
I got a PhD in [C] son and wind and [G] rain.
[Em] I had a reservation by the air conditioner
down at Everett on the break of.
[G] Till the day my heart got gifted with a train.
[Em] Station
to station, [G] coast to coast, not that much anything in [D] mind.
[Em] No [C] expectations, way [G] less
than most.
But I wanted to see Winslow one [D] more time.
[G] But I'm walking on the rail, [C] looking
up and down this railroad.
I'm walking on the rail, looking up and down this town.
I'll
bid [Em] adieu to the precious few I knew here.
And I'll be on my [D] way and I won't be back
[G] around.

[D] [G]
My mother married an oxygener, a ladies man.
He'd take her dancing with a [C] tank of
oxygen.
[G] Oh [Em] the ladies kept him warm.
He'd recycle them his favorite corn.
He specialized
in [G] western swims and.
[Em] Station to [C] station, coast to coast, not that much anything [D] in
mind.
[Em] No [C] expectations, way less [G] than most.
As long as I got oxygen and [D] wine.
[G] But I keep
on thinking about [C] the disappearing ozone [G] layer.
And I keep on [C] thinking about the disappearing
green [G] land shelf.
And I keep [Em] on thinking all [C] about the disappearing [G] middle class.
[C] But I
figure I'll be doing some [D] disappearing [G] myself.
