I'm Nick Harcourt and we're here with Jay Maskis and thanks for playing for us first of all.
Sure.
Good to have you here in the vintage room.
Yeah, thanks.
I've been here many times.
What's your earliest musical memory?
Can you share that with us?
[E] It's hard to say.
I have two older sisters and an older brother and they were always playing records.
What was your first guitar?
I bought a Fender Jazzmaster.
There you [F] go.
You started a lot of stuff, right?
Yeah, I wanted to get a Strat but I didn't have enough [Eb] money.
The guy did a bait and switch.
It was this guy, Slimy Bob was his name.
[G] It was called Slimy [Ab] Bob's Guitar Ripoff and he gave you a pick that said,
You've just been ripped off by [N] Slimy Bob.
He carried a gun and mace.
I saw mace one of his employees when I was in there and laughed.
But I couldn't afford the Strat.
It was suddenly more when I got there.
I had the choice of Jazzmaster or Jaguar because I wanted a Fender.
I liked the Jaguar the way it looked better but I liked the neck better on the Jazzmaster.
It had Grover tuners like I'd seen on the back of Frampton Comes Alive.
I thought that was cool.
So I just went with that [G] one.
You're going to play a song for us called Stumble.
How did it come about?
I guess I was just sitting in front of the TV.
Waiting for songs to come and it just kind of came to me then.
I'm not sure what I [F] was watching at the time.
Maybe Sons of Anarchy or something.
