Hi, I'm Carl with the Minor Chord Music Outfitters in Littleton, Massachusetts,
and today I have a puzzle for you.
What do you think is in this case?
Kind of an odd-shaped case, might be like a
squashed saxophone or something.
Let's look inside and see what's there.
Alright, well, here's one interesting piece.
It might be a
maybe a kid's bow and arrow set or something?
I don't know.
Ah!
Here's the answer to the mystery.
What we have here is half of a classical guitar.
How about that?
We just take this piece,
pop it on, and we get the other half of our classical guitar.
Just like so.
Tighten it down with these screws that also serve as
strap buttons.
And now we have a nylon string,
traditional, classical style, two-inch width nut,
flat fingerboard sort of guitar.
The only thing is, it's got no top and no bottom.
You can see straight through it, which means it's very quiet.
I'm playing the guitar now and you're not hearing anything, I think, on the [C#] video.
Just a hint.
And if you're one of those
self-conscious practicing people like I am, you don't want other people listening in
on your practicing, because after all you're practicing to get rid of mistakes.
So the silent guitar can really help you.
It can also help you with travel.
You saw how small the case got.
It comes apart.
But what do I do with a guitar that you can't hear?
Well, there are electronics here which serve two purposes.
One is, I can use this guitar with headphones
or earbuds, so I can hear myself perfectly well while I'm practicing.
And the other thing I can do is if I do want to play for other people,
or play with other people, there's a jack on the back here,
just like any guitar with an electronic pickup, and I can plug in
to an amplifier.
So, for example, I've got my
Fishman Loudbox Mini Acoustic Amp over here.
Let's turn it on
and let's see what we sound like.

Very nice and very useful if you travel a lot
or if you need [F] to practice silently.

small travel case.

Thanks for watching.
