Chords for Incorporating Jazz Licks Into Gospel Music

hello today i'm going [G] to show you how you [F] can incorporate jazz runs and jazz [Gb] licks into your
[F] gospel music today i'm going to play a somewhat traditional _ _ chord progression and i'm going to
play a jazz run or jazz lick on top of that progression just to demonstrate how you really
[N] can do this and then i'll go back and break it down for you all right _
_ _ [Eb] _ okay _ _ _
[Ebm] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _ [Ebm] _ [Bb] _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _
now [Ab] that's the chord
progression now i'm going to _ [G] play the jazz [Ab] line [D] within that type of chord progression [Cm] _ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ _ _ [Ebm] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [Eb] _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ [B] _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ okay [Gb] that
was the lick okay now what i'm going to do is break down the lick for you and show you
[Eb] what it is that i'm doing _ _ [G] _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ [Ab] _ _ [F] i'm in the key of e flat just [C] playing just a traditional
_ movement in e flat _ [G] [Ab] and _ _ _ we go [Ebm] to the a flat [Fm] _ _ [D] _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Bb] _ [C] into the six and then this is what [G] we actually do
[Gb] the lick [Eb] _ _
_ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
okay that's the lick [D] so i'm going to do it [Eb] again _ _
_ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _ _ _
[Eb] _ okay i'm going to slow [C] it down for [Eb] you _
_ _ _ now _ this is basically what i'm doing with my left [C] hand i'm playing e [Eb] flat a _ and d flat okay with my
right hand i'm playing a flat _ g flat _ d [Gbm] flat _ a natural [Ab] _ _ _
a [Gb] flat _ _ _ okay so we start off like [Eb] this _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
okay [Ebm] and then after the g flat we [Gb] change chords _ to [D] _ _
_ _ this right here i'm playing d a [Ab] flat and d [D] flat
with my left hand and we move like [Ab] this [D] so _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ [Db] _ i'm playing d flat b [Bb] flat g [Db] flat g [D] natural _ b [Db] flat _
_ and then we do this [B] _ _
b [Bb] natural b [A] flat _ a _ [Ab] _ a flat and then we slide from the [Gb] g flat
to [G] the g _ okay so again [Gb] slow motion would be this
_ [Gbm] _ _ _ _ [Gb] you _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ [Db] _ _
[Bb] _ _ [A] _ [Ab] _ _ [G] _ _ [Eb] _
_ _ _ _ can sound that flat again so again to show you with the chords

_ [B] _ _ _ [Ebm] _ many times i like to grab the e flat on the [Gb] top while [G] _
moving down half [Abm] steps

[Bm] _ _ _ [G] _ okay so again once more in [Cm] contact _ you're [Ab] _ _

[Ab] _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
[Gbm] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ _ [Ab] _ [Eb] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _
_ _ _ [B] _ ready [Gb] to go to the [Ab] four
the [Ebm] a flat _ [Bb] _ _ _
[Eb] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ okay and then we end it on the e flat okay [Ab] just just to give you a general idea how you
really take some of these [Gb] jazzy licks and runs and you can [Fm] really _ [E] incorporate them into [N] your
