How to Play Escape (Pina Colada) - Rupert Holmes (cover) - Medium 6 Chord Tune chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys party Marty easy guitar tunes on YouTube.
I've got another really fun party tune to play by Rupert Holmes
It's called escape the pina colada song
It's been requested a couple of times friends of mine like this tune and I actually love playing this so yeah
You haul this one over to the party it always goes over pretty well a lot of chord changes in it
But if you can kind of do it slow at first and then speed it up.
You'll be okay with it
first chord [F] to it is F
The second chord [N] all you're doing is really keeping the same F shape
But you're just putting your index finger on the one string rather than two
So you're releasing the bottom E string and you're just putting your index finger on the second string from the bottom in the first [Am] fret
And then [G] there's your G
So it [F] sounds like this
[G] [F] [Dm]
[A] [Am] [G] [F] So
[C] [Em] [D] [C] the last three chords would be C E
[Em]
minor
[Dm] D minor
So if you [G] put it all [Am] together you get the F
And then you take your finger off the bottom string same F and [G] G
And [F] then I know it sounds confusing, but it just goes around in a circle [C] and then
There's [Em] [Dm]
[C] only six chords in it
But they actually kind of start and finish on the same that chords in the first in the first two progressions, so [Eb] we'll do it [F] again
[Am] So [G]
[F] [C]
[Em] [Dm]
[C]
[N] I'll slow it down
I do put a slap strum on this as well just to kind of give it a drum beat because it's kind of a dance
Tune there's gonna be a link on this video if you click on that
It'll give you a better explanation of my slap or muted strum, so I'll slow the slow strum down
And then we'll get into the song
[F]
[Am] One [G] [F]
[Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] [Am]
[G] [F]
[Em] [Dm] [C] more time, and [F] [Am] [G]
[F] [Em] I'll [Dm] call it out this last [C] time before you go, so it's your F [F]
[Am] F and then no bottom [G] string [F] G F
[C] [Em] C E minor [Dm] D minor [C] C
So I [G] know that sounds a little difficult for you guys are just starting out there, but stick with [F] it
This song is definitely rewarding so Rupert Holmes escape Pina Colada song let's give it a
[G] [F] I [C] [Em] [Dm] [C] was
[F] [G] [F]
[C] [Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] tired of one day
[G] [F] We've been [C] together too [Em] long
[Dm] [C]
Like a one [F]-hour recording
[G] [F]
Of a favorite [C] [Em] song
[Dm] So [C]
why she [F] lay there sleeping?
[G] [F]
I
read the paper
[Em] [Dm] [G] [C]
And in the personal [F] car
[G] [F] There was a [C] slant of the [Em] room
[Dm] [Em]
if you like [F] Pina Colada
[G] [F]
In getting caught [Em] in rain
[Dm] [C]
Well if you like [F] it's yoga
[G] [F]
And it you have [Em] a brain
[Dm] [C]
If [Em] you don't [F] make it up at [G] midnight
[F] I'll do [C] Okay
[Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] [G] [F]
[Em] I
[Dm] [C]
[F] Wasn't [G] [F] And
[C] [Em] [Dm] [C]
[Am] [G] [F]
[C] [E] [Dm] So [C]
[F] I picked up the paper
[G] [F]
[C] [Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] [G] [F]
I thought it [Em] was
[D] Yes, [C] I [F] [G] In
[F]
[C] [Em] [Dm] No
[C]
I [F] [G] [F]

[Dm] [C]
[Em] I'm gonna [F] meet you back tomorrow
[G] [F]
He got all [C] this [Em] red [Dm] [C] tape
and
[F] [G] [F]
We'll [C] play I'm [Em] scared
[Dm] [C]
[F] [G] [F]

[G] [F]
I'm the [C] shape of [Em] a [Dm] face
[C] It was my own [F] lady
[G] [F]
And I said [G] I [C] see [Em] [Dm] you
[C]
And then we laugh for [Am] a moment
[G] [F]
And I said [C] I'd never
[Em] [Dm] [C] Let you that [F] pretty
[G] [F]
[C] [Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] [G] [F]
[Em] [Dm] [Em]
[F] [G] [F]
[C] [Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] [G] [F]
[Em] [Dm] [C]
[F] And
[G] [F]
I
[Em] That you love me in the rain [Dm] [C]
That you love [F] me to yoga
[G] [F]
And that you [C] have a brain [Em] [Dm] [C]
[Em] That you love me [F] in the midnight
[G] [F]
I'm a [C] doozy, [G] the cake [C]
I'm the love [F] that you look [G] for
[F]
Ride to me [Em] and escape [Dm] [C]
I'm the love [F] that you look [G] [F] for
Ride to me [Em] and escape [Dm] [C]
I'm the love [F] that you look [G] for
[F]
Ride to [Em] me and [D] escape
