You

may be myself.
We're in the key of E.
It's a fairly simple bass line at least
regarding to the notes.
It can be a bit tricky to get the rhythm right but if
you follow the tab that you can download for free if you're a member of

Okay let's start with the
bass line.
1 2 3 [D] 4.
[Em]
First part, first three notes are thumbed.
A pickup [A] note up
to the start of the first bar.
1 2 3 4.
Then we are on the 1 on the first bar.
So the first note, the pickup note is B.
[D] Then comes the D on the A string.
[Gm] [E] E 7th fret.
All thumb.
3 4.
[D] [E] And then comes three plucked notes on the higher on the G
string.
[D] E E [E] E.
So we have 1 2 3 4.
[D] [Em]
And it's a bit tricky to get this rhythm
3 4.
It's actually an 8th note and a 16th note that comes just before the beat 3.
Then an 8th note after the beat of 3.
But sometimes I use my thumb to to help me
to support me playing these kind of bass lines with a lot of syncopated 16th
notes.
So listen to this 3 and 4.
That can be hard to get just plucking those.
Listen to this instead.
3 4.
I have this.
That's actually
Then we are playing an
8th note followed by two 16th notes.
And that can be easier to to hit that that
16th note that comes just before the the third beat.
Use these support strokes in
the thumb.
I do that a lot actually.
But you don't have to do it.
I don't think
Larry Graham does it.
He just plays this 3 and [D] 4.
[Em]
But you can do 3 4 with this little supporting thumb stroke.
Okay that's the
first part.
Second part is more or less the same.
So I'll play the first and
second.
3 and [D] 4.
[Em] [D]
[Em] [B] So we just omit the last E.
And sometimes he's playing this
B and sometimes he doesn't play it.
So it can also sound like this 3 and [D] 4.
[Em]
[D] [E] [D]
[E] [D] [C#] [Em]
That's the whole part.
So we have the first part, second [F#m] part [D] and then the
third part is the same as the first.
[F#] [Bm]
[C#] Fourth part is a hammer-on from C sharp
to D [E] and then the open E string.
[D]
So it's play the whole bass line again from the
top.
Very slowly.
1 2 and 3 and 4.
[F#] [Em]
[Bm] [E] [D]
[Em]
[D] [E] [Bm]
[Em]
[C#] [D] [E]
[G]
And to get these [Em] pluck notes short as it [E] should be, what I do when I play the note
I immediately lift it off the fret as opposed to long notes.
[D] [E] [D] So it should sound
like this 3 and 4.
[A] [G]
[A] [Em] [Dm]
[C#] [Em] [B] And sometimes you can know that's funky if you play the first
thumb note on the 1 and the 1 and [D] [D] these are D and E like this 3 and 4.
[E] [D]
[E] [Bm]
[Em] [D] [E]
[D] [Em] Short, [D]
[E] long.
The long ones I did a slide.
[D] The [E] [D] slide sounds cool and sometimes I do a
strum, play a power chord.
[A] [Em] [D] [E] Okay [D] [E] [D]
[E] [A] [Em] [A]
go [E] [Dm] [E] practice your thank you for let me be myself.
See ya!
