Hey, [E] what's up you guys?
It's Marty Schwartz here from GuitarJams.com.
Happy to be giving you guys a nice classic rock lesson today.
The guitar is tuned down a half step just to match up to a recording.
Hopefully that's not too bad for you.
And then also you can try my website out for free for three days at GuitarJams.com.
There's a link down there for the site.
I appreciate all that extra support.
I really do.
But anyway, let's zoom in and break this one down right now.
Here we go.
All right.
So I think the first part is really a piano part but I'm going to show it to you on guitar.
I've been having fun doing piano things on guitar.
It's going to just use this kind of E minor pentatonic.
Also the guitar is tuned down a half step.
So it's E flat tuning.
And we're just using this little vibe, the ninth fret on the A and [Bb] the D string [E] up to
the [Db] twelfth fret, [E] up to the fourteenth [Ebm] fret.
[Abm] So that's like [Bbm] the vocal melody.
[Eb]
[B] OK.
Then we're going to go up to the seventeenth fret on the A and D string [Gb] still.
Hit that.
But [B] then our index finger is going to go to the sixteenth fret of the D and then our middle
finger is staying on that seventeen.
[Db]
[Gb] So [Bbm] from [Gb]
[Bbm] there you go to the [Db] twelfth fret again and then [Eb] slide it up [B]
[Fm] starting on the ninth,
[Db] nine, [Ebm]
twelve, fourteen, [Gb] [Bbm] seventeen.
This move, [Db] twelve, up [Eb]
to fourteen.
Now here's the fun part.
That low E, really it's tuned down to E flat but that low E string, it's a really cool
little technique there where you get that open drone.
In between the singing part, it holds on that.
It goes back and forth there.
Then finally again.
So that's your melody.
Then we've got an E note which I'm playing right here on the seventh fret of the A string.
Then I'm hitting a low G note and this is what is supposed to be with [Db] distortion or
like a fuzz kind of thing.
[Eb] So [Gb] [Db] [Ab] then a D power [Db] chord which you can play right here.
I'm using the open D string.
So it's [B] just like a D chord but that high E I'm muting.
You're not hearing that.
You're [Db] just hearing.
[E] Then I'm doing an A power [Ab] chord.
[Abm] Then this E power chord [Eb] up here.
Seven, nine, nine.
Then [Db] you can get that [Eb] note in there [Db] but [Eb] [Bbm] it's really [Eb] the piano doing that.
So I'm taking my pinky off of that super power chord [Db] to get that note [Abm] in there.
So you've [Bb] got – [Db] [Eb] so
[Ebm] [Db] [Eb]
[Gb] [Db]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gb]
[Ab] [Eb]
it alternates.
So you've got [Gb] E, [Db] G, D, [Ab]
A, [Eb] E power chord.
[Gb] G.
[Abm] So [Eb] E, E, [Gb] G.
You can do a G power chord [Ab] up to an A power chord.
I just [E] like that open [Ab] A power chord.
[Abm] It's a great chord [Gb] for guitar but so you got G, [Ab] then the A, [Eb] then the E power chord.
It just pretty [Db] much alternates between those things.
[Bbm] So [Eb]
[B] [Db] [Eb]
[Db]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Gb]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Db] – [Ab]
[Eb]
[Ab] [B] so then finally near the end, it just instead of G to A, it does A down to G near
the end there.
That's one little weird thing that it does.
But yeah, it's just a real fun little [Abm] technique there that I thought I would point [C] out to
you guys with this [Bbm] kind of vibe.
[Db]
[Ebm] [Db] [Eb]
[Bb] [Db]
[Ebm] [Db] [Eb] [Db] [Eb]

[Db] [B] All right.
There was a lesson.
Hope that was good for you.
