What's up guys!
Welcome back to another video.
Today I'll be showing you guys how to make [E] a mid-tempo in FL Studio.
If you're wondering what mid-tempo is, it is basically dubstep but around 100 bpm.
And I know you guys are going to say, oh isn't that [Am] glitch hop?
Well glitch hop is as you'd expect more glitchy
and it also has a lot more melodic bits in [Am] the drop, in the intro [D] and everywhere.
While mid [Am]-tempo is a lot more dark.
So yeah, today I'll be showing you guys how [Fm] to do that.
[G]
[Fm] So first off, [E] get your bpm to around 110.
Basically what you need is getting some [C] dubstep kick and snares
because you kind of have the exact drums from dubstep.
[A] Alright so now you need to get your kick [D] and snare on every beat.
So pretty much you have a beat [A] kind of like this.
Also add [Am] some closed hi-hats and some open hi-hats.
[D] And you're gonna have to get this [D] kind of loop.
[F] That's pretty good.
[D] So now that we have a drum loop, we can start [Am] laying down some [C] basses.
And I'll show you guys some tips and tricks on how to get that exact mid-tempo vibe that you can [E] aim for.
So let's just start making one bass [C] right now.
A hitting [F] bass.
[C#]
[G] [G]
[Em] So I've made my growl bass right here.
[C] And I've got some arrangement ideas.
So pretty much [D] the drop will kind of sound [Am] like
Alright so I'll make a new bass [F] right now.
[Cm] [F#]
[E] Alright so after that I think I'm just going to copy-paste it and copy-paste it again.
But in the [D] second section right [Am] here, I'll change it up a little bit.
And here I'll introduce a new bass.
Let me just make a unique pattern [D] right here and make a long [F] note right there.
[N]
[Am] So this filler bass sounds pretty cool [F#] right here.
[E] But I still feel like we're missing one bass and it should be some sort of bass that hits right here.
So let's go ahead and do [F] that.
[E] [D#]
[G] [Am] Alright [C] so this is how [D] this bass sounds like.
[G#] [E] And it kind of goes along with the second bass.
[G#] [E] So that's pretty cool.
For [A] this last bar, [D] I would add some sort of brass [Cm] shot that makes up [E] a pretty dark melody.
[F#] Alright [F] [E]
so let's just copy-paste this.
First off I'm going to go into this [F] first pattern and [E] I'm going to make some new sort of rhythm for it.
And I'm just going to paste it right here and obviously cut the rest.
[F#] [C] Oh shit what if I add some sort of pitch bending [A] for this one part.
[F] [Am] So I think this is kind of it with our bass line.
I think the last thing I'm going to do is add [C] some rides, [A] a crash and some more background elements.
[B]
And I also want to add an offbeat [E] element.
Basically add this thing.
[C#] Oh yeah and you can also [E] add some stadium effects so you [A] can fill out the whole drop [C] a little bit.
So our drop [E] is kind of finished.
Let me just master it so we can have a pretty good final result.
Okay so the master is done.
Let's see how the final result sounds like.
