The first thing that happens is you get some kind of label and you got to live up to it
and then [A] you just get [G] caught in [E] that and I forget [F#] what the second thing is.
[D#m] [C#m]
[B]
[E] It's
[B]
hard.
it's like living two lives, you know, I have a [E] family, three kids, and [C#m] it's just hard to
live in between that line, you know, of being out on the [D#m] road and [E] being away for a month.
Keep on turning out [F#] and learning [E] out [F#] and turning out [B] the same.
[F#]
[E] So put me [B] on my way [E] and show me [B] a sign.
[E] And take it [F#] to the limit one [B] more time.
[N]
Thank you and good evening.
We're the Eagles from Los Angeles.
[G]
[C] [G]
[C] [G]
Well I'm running down the road trying to loosen my load.
I got seven [D] women on [C] my mind.
[G] People are always saying things to me [D] like, you're just like a normal [C] person.
And I always say, of course.
[G]
[C]
[G]
[C] We saw a poster of us when On the Border was made.
[Am] Everybody looked like little kids, you know, [E] early 20s and stuff.
And [Bm] everybody didn't have the [Em] wrinkles and [Bm] baggy eyes.
Sort of like a president when he [Em] first takes office.
[G]
And then [E] like four or five years later, you know, he just, [D] he walks out and his hair is gray.
[E] His eyes are drooping and he's just really, you know, real burned.
It was a fucking blast.
You know, I was living the dream.
He was a hot ass.
He was brutally handsome.
We never in our wildest dreams figured on being this successful and lasting this long.
[D#] [G] Well
[C]
[G]
[C]
[G]
I'm running down the road trying to loosen my load.
I got seven [D] women on [C] my mind.
From [G] the one that owned [D] me to the one that stole [C] me once, she's a [G] friend of mine.
Take [Em] it easy, take [G] it [C]
[G] easy.
Don't let [Am] the sound of your [C] own wheels [Em] drive you crazy.
[C] Lighten up while you [G] still can.
[C] Don't even try to [G] understand.
Just find [Am] a place and [G] make [C] your stand.
Take [G] it easy.
Well I'm standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.
Such [D] a fine sight [C] to see.
[G] It's a girl, my lord, [D] and a black backboard.
[C] So I'm down to take a look [G] at me.
Well come [Em] on baby,
[D] don't [C] say [G] maybe.
I [Am] either know your [G]
[C] sweet love [Em] is gonna save me.
We [C] may lose and [G] we may win, but [C] we will never be here [G] again.
So [Am] open up, I'm [C]
climbing in.
Take [G] it easy.
We ended up going all around the world in about two years and nine [C] months.
Well you know we [G] gotta take
[C] it easy.
We ought to [G] take it easy.
[C]
[Bm] A [F#] rock band is not a perfect democracy.
It's more like a [A] sports team.
No one can do anything without the other [E] guys.
[B] But everybody [Em] doesn't get to touch the ball all the [G] time.
Time went on and time went on and Felder [D] became more and more unhappy.
Couldn't [Em] appreciate the amount of money he was making.
More concerned [F#] about how much money I was making.
[Bm]
Don Felder really thought about it.
It really was, he wanted it to be a band band in the purest sense of the words.
You know we're all gonna get equal songwriting, singing, expression, stuff.
You know this was not a hippie commune.
You know and everything for them really goes back to those two words, song power.
We finally made the decision that we won't be working with him anymore.
It just broke my heart.
It's not just playing with Joe.
I miss these guys, but I really miss the friendship and the music.
[C#m] People to have an equal say.
Here we are 40 years later and we're doing okay.
[F#m] [E] We're one of the few bands that can say that.
